2 Sides To Every War example essay topic

FROM ROB: Ok here is my opinion on this issue that has been thrown out there by a few people. Like has been said it is only that, an opinion, but backed with FACT. So don't write me back flipping out on me and sending hate mail... : -D Fake surrenders, forcing CHILDREN to take up arms or kill them, Mutilate POW by cutting out their tongues and torturing them to there death, supplying your troops with chemical weapon suits and antidote injections for the use of chemical weapons, yeah this is someone who should go on about themselves and be allowed to continue without someone intervening. You know the main reason for the German mobilization and one of the greatest causes of W.W. II, allowing the Germans to militarize against the restrictions in the treaty of Paris in the demilitarized zone between France and Germany. The UN took a lazy approach and diplomatic allowing them to do this for years and then guess what, about 3 years after they took the first step, bam wide spread panic, and Germany's trial at impearl ism.

Well, for about 10 years now, AKA Clinton era, over and over again, diplomatic negotiations with Iraq from the UN telling them to disarm. JUST FYI the three small wars Clinton was involved in, NEVER consulted with the UN, and the same with the Reagan Era! At Least Bush did get a first draft approved by the majority of the UN before mobilizing. Yes he had it in the first issues! What is this? Yeah the UN knew, and we are just supposed to sit back, tell Iraq to "aww just throw away your weapons", and wait for what?

Either the crazy dictator of Iraq to become another Hitler or who he may sell these weapons to, only ultra modern day, or nip it in the bud before it begins! And also, anyone who thinks that this war is about the "oil" and us wanting it! I can only say you are extremely obtuse and need to read. First of all if you look into it, the reason for high oil prices is Mainly due to central and south America. Especially Venezuela and the strikes, and raised prices because they GIVE oil at the rate of 35,000 barrels a month to CUBA!

The US only receives at the MOST 4% of oil from the middle east region. This is the biggest thing that makes me mad more than anything... Why would we want control over 4%, if it was about oil, we would storm Venezuela and other south American countries. Especially if we are this "impearlistic country" people want to make us out to be. Europe / Asia has been unstable for hundreds and hundreds of years, with the last 200 years being the most dangerous with the advancements in technology and "gorilla warfare", so if we stand back and allow situations to develop, like many countries did 2-300 years ago, then it is stupidity. If Hitler would have had nuclear weapons, most likely I wouldn't be here writing this email right now.

So WHY allow a man to continue his quest to develop a weapon like this or any weapons capable of mass destruction... Because if he doesn't use it he will sell it, and don't kid yourself he would have no problem selling it to someone who WOULD! Now for Charlie Daniels "An Open Letter To The Hollywood Bunch Ok let's just say for a moment you bunch of pampered, overpaid, unrealistic children had your way and the U.S.A. didn't go into Iraq. Let's say that you really get your way and we destroy all our nuclear weapons and stick daisies in our gun barrels and sit around with some white wine and cheese and pat ourselves on the back, so proud of what we " ve done for world peace. Let's say that we cut the military budget to just enough to keep the National Guard on hand to help out with floods and fires. Let's say that we close down our military bases all over the world and bring the troops home, increase our foreign aid and drop all the trade sanctions against everybody.

I suppose that in your fantasy world this would create a utopian world where everybody would live in peace. After all, the great monster, the United States of America, the cause of all the world's trouble would have disbanded it's horrible military and certainly all the other countries of the world would follow suit. After all, they only arm themselves to defend their countries from the mean old U.S.A. Why you bunch of pitiful, hypocritical, idiotic, spoiled mugwumps. get your head out of the sand and smell the Trade Towers burning. Do you think that a trip to Iraq by Sean Penn did anything but encourage a wanton murderer to think that the people of the U.S.A. didn't have the nerve or the guts to fight him? Barbra Streisand's fanatical and hateful rankings about George Bush makes about as much sense as Michael Jackson hanging a baby over a railing. You people need to get out of Hollywood once in a while and get out into the real world.

You'd be surprised at the hostility you would find out here. Stop in at a truck stop and tell an overworked, long distance truck driver that you don't think Saddam Hussein is doing anything wrong. Tell a farmer with a couple of sons in the military that you think the United States has no right to defend itself. Go down to Baxley, Georgia and hold an anti-war rally and see what the folks down there think about you. You people are some of the most disgusting examples of a waste of protoplasm I've ever had the displeasure to hear about.

Sean Penn, you " re a traitor to the United States of America. You gave aid and comfort to the enemy. How many American lives will your little, "fact finding trip" to Iraq cost? You encouraged Saddam to think that we didn't have the stomach for war.

You people protect one of the most evil men on the face of this earth and won't lift a finger to save the life of an unborn baby. Freedom of choice you say? Well I'm going to exercise some freedom of choice of my own. If I see any of your names on a marquee, I'm going to boycott the movie. I will completely stop going to movies if I have to.

In most cases it certainly wouldn't be much of a loss. You scoff at our military who's boots you " re not even worthy to shine. They go to battle and risk their lives so ingrates like you can live in luxury. The day of reckoning is coming when you will be faced with the undeniable truth that the war against Saddam Hussein is the war on terrorism.

America is in imminent danger. You " re either for her or against her. There is no middle ground. I think we all know where you stand. What do you think?" God Bless America Charlie Daniels Robert Don Foster Jr President of Sales and Marketing / Owner Web Design Inc.

& Restaurant Rater. com FROM NICK M. : Hey all, Since there's already billions of dollars on the table, I just thought I'd add my 2 cents. For what it's worth, I can't begin to explain how proud I am to be born free in the USA. We have a working government where my voice is heard as well as yours. Although our messages are different, I believe it's because of what we tend to take for granted. I have rights as a citizen that I excercise everyday here in The States that an Iraqi citizen would be executed for because his DICTATOR (not elected official) doesn't care much for what he has to say. Yes I can read.

I can read articles and books all day long to find out what America did wrong and how the authors of those books and articles may belive so. But we are all entitled to our opinions and our support may go to whichever side we choose. But this is plain and simple... there are 2 sides to every war. Not always a right side and a wrong side (depends on your beliefs and support) but when you voice your opinion and support something, you are helping one of the sides. We elected our President for a reason and he is acting on his power to protect us, and our children, and theirs, and theirs, and theirs...

I am glad we finally have a leader who will change our world to where I will not be scared to fly on a plane eyeballing every passenger. I will be able to sit in the penthouse of a huge office building and enjoy a beautiful September sky, and not a 747 headed straight at me. Terrorism is coming to an end, there are steps to make it happen. If you " re not taking the steps, you " re standing in the way. So I agree with Daniel on this one.

I WOULD STEP OVER YOU. Good luck to our troops. May God give our leaders the wisdom and courage to carry on. AMEN. MoocH FROM Ben W. : I thought I might throw a few thoughts out there. If anything I would like to commend Leslie for starting a dialogue.

I think too often we huddle in our beliefs and never consider the other side. I hope you all read these emails and try and understand what the person is saying. As for this Just War theory. I really can't agree. So to quickly run over the points (I left them attached below). 1.

Twelve years seems like plenty of time to me to exhaust all peaceful options, unless you want to strike the eight years of Clinton where nothing meaningful was done. The peace talks have been going on in Israel for 40 years now, how much longer till peaceful options are exhausted there? Peace talks have been going on in Kashmir, Chechnya, Korea, Ireland, and countless other places for years and years but progress never seems to be made. How long should talks take and how many innocent people should die in the meantime? Can anyone name a situation similar to these that has been solved without the threat or use of force? I would really appreciate that for my own info.

2. I do believe we are the legitimate authority. The UN Security Council has spoken (that includes France, Russia, and China) and specifically threatened force for non-compliance. Kicking the inspectors out in 1998 and only barely letting them in now shows Saddam has no intention of very fully complying. Our coalition includes 35 nations as well. 3.

I agree a war must be fought to redress a wrong. Suppressing the rights of the Iraqi people, and using chemical and biological weapons on an ethnic minority in your nation seems like justification enough. The Kurds have no chance at protecting themselves, are we simply to watch them die and not get involved until Saddam does something to us. 4. I'd say we have a damn nice chance at winning. And any marine that dies will be a hero in my eyes.

5. An official peace has not existed since Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990. Maybe you should research the 450 tons of explosions dropped on Iraq in 1998 and the total during the Clinton Presidency. Didn't see many peace protestors out in the streets, I supported Clinton then. Seems a lot of peace rallies like to pick and choose their "peace". 6.

As far as this proportional retaliation clause, I believe our use of precision guided munitions is very commendable. In Feb. 1998 Clinton authorized the use of tactical nuclear weapons on a first strike basis. That seems a bit excessive. 7. I agree civilian causalities should be avoided. We are going in to liberate Iraq and to create a peace better than the "peace" that exist now.

However this is often hard to do when Saddam (or Yugoslavia was the best example) puts civilians inside military targets. I'll agree with Leslie on the God Bless America thing. I do say God bless humanity. Iraq we " re coming to give you the opportunity to experience freedom and to choose which religion you practice. And to address an earlier email.

Yes the US invaded el Salvador, Guatemala, Congo, Angola and many many more. Some of these were justified. Others were while the US was in the midst of the Cold War. In the theory of the security blanket world back then, you were either on our side or the Russians side. And since no one on earth would dare dream of the US and Russia going face to face, both nations fought the cold war by covertly invading smaller nations to ensure the leader was faithful to our side.

While I myself have a hard time justifying the covert wars, it helped maintain a certain overall world stability. And MOST importantly Leslie, I would give my life to protect your freedom to choose who you are and what you say. My life is expendable to the value of your freedom. But more importantly my life as an American is expendable to insure the freedom of those less privileged than us around the world.

This may be a hard concept for most people to grasp, but I sincerely believe that freedom comes with a price. A price I am willing to pay. I would love to believe in your utopian view of the world, but I simply can't when I read human rights reports of Kurdish women chained down and gang raped by Iraqi soldiers. How anyone can go to bed at night knowing damn well this is going on and simply say another 12 years of peaces talks will resolve it, I don't understand. I know evil like this happens all over the world, but we can only take on one at a time.

First Afghanistan now Iraq then maybe North Korea or any number of African nations overrun with food lords who use the spread of AIDS as a weapon. Using the excuse that lots of bad happens in the world and even in our country will never be justification for pacifism. One of the most recent articles out on the war web clearly shows that most Iraqis are tired of the Saddam dictatorship, the soul yearns for freedom. These children should have the same rights we did growing up. Does anyone disagree with that? The US must forever be a guardian of freedom.

It is a heavy burden on the soul to be at the top but I believe we can rise to the challenge. All it takes for evil men to succeed is for good men to do nothing. a patriot of freedom, Benjamin M. Ward FROM Joey: I'm in Daniel's corner... the right corner. This would not have been a problem if it were any democrat president. BRING ON THE BOMBS! J.C.M. Teacher: Hilton Head High School Honors Physics and Physical Science As a personal note most people that are against this war are ANTI BUSH! FROM Dawn O: Hi everyone, Leslie knows how I feel about the whole war thing, so I don't know why I was sent this forward. But since I got it, I am going to go ahead a let all of you know how I feel about this matter.

I am for the war. You have to do what you have to do. I am very proud to say that I support George W. Bush in this decision and by doing so, it makes me proud to say I am and AMERICAN!! because we do have freedom of speech. I would like to remind everyone however who is exercising their freedom of speech rights, that are anti war, that we would not have the right to freedom of speech if it weren't for most wars that have been fought by this country's honorable men. Instead we would be living in a Nazi Germany or present day Iraq kind of society where you would be shot in the street for being homosexual or get your tongue cut out for speaking your mind... so please, before you send me a forward about being against the war, think about the real reason you are sending it and think about the many men who died to make it possible for you to send it... paradise lost.
