33 Day Cycle example essay topic
It starts at zero, and over the span of 33-days, reaches a maximum, passes its level of origin, reaches a minimum, and comes back to its point of origin. The emotional cycle varies sinusoidally with time over a period of 28 days. Which means it begins at the beginning of the marked time, and returns back to repeat the same motions, once every 28 days. Scientists believe that biorhythms are not influenced by stress, or by a variance in body composition, personal beliefs, etc.
Scientists believe that biorhythms are a consistent, naturally occurring constant. They also believe the periods are rigid, all starting at zero on your birthday. This theory was first explored by Dr. Wilhelm Fliess, in the 1890's. 1 Dr. Fliess' work was involving the 23 and 28 day cycles of some of his patients. He studied the status of overall health, including fevers, childhood illness, and susceptibility to death. 1 His studies gained notoriety, and soon Sigmund Freud, among other famous scientists of the day, became interested in the theories.
Since the inception of the study of biorhythms in the 1890's, numerous studies have been done validation the theory. Biorythms are said to be critical when they undergo the change from maximum to minimum, which, in following with the sine graph, happens once every cycle, for exactly one half of its duration. For example, in the intellectual cycle, which is 33 days long, will descend from it's peak of 100%, to -100% for one half of its cycle, (the other half it will spend ascending) or, (33/2 = 16.5 days.) The same holds true for the physical cycle, which will descend for 23/2 days, or 11.5 days. In keeping, the emotional cycle will descend for 28/2 days, or 14 days. Although this may seem very negative, its good to keep in mind that the rest of time, the biorythms are going up. It's also important to keep in mind that there are extremely critical phases every 7 years, or periods of time at which all three cycles are descending together.
3 This also means, (by paying attention the pattern of a sin graph) that there will be extremely positive days every 7 years. Biorythms are taken very seriously in other cultures. In Japan, it is not uncommon for a worker to receive the day off when he or she is reading critical in the emotional, physical, and intellectual columns. 2 To find out your current biorythms, the following formulas are used: Simply, P stands for the physical cycle, E for emotional, and I for intellectual, the results will vary between 1 and -1, 1 being 100% of capacity, and -1 being the opposite, or -100% of capacity.
By substituting t for the amount of days old you are, you can get your readings. These formulas can also be used to graph the cycle, by inserting the first date you would like to graph, (in days since your birth) and the end date, (in days since your birth) you can see how long the cycle would be, and where it would begin and end. For example, follow my work below. Sin ( (360 6291.25) /23) = -.
20, my physical biorythm reading as of May 1st Sin ( (360 6291.25) /28) = -. 92, my emotional biorythm reading as of May 1st Sin ( (360 6291.25) /33) = -. 79, my intellectual biorythm reading as of May 1st By calculating a couple of days around each of the formulas you can figure out if the graph is on the incline as of the 1st of May, or on the decline: Sin ( (360 6292) /23) = -. 40, the physical biorythm is on its way down towards a minimum Sin ( (360 6292) /28) = -. 97, the emotional biorythm is on the decline as well Sin ( (360 6292) /33) = -. 87, the intellectual is also on the decline.
Then, I calculated the readings for the end of May Sin ( (360 6322.25) /23) = -. 68, my physical biorythm reading as of May 31st Sin ( (360 6322.25) /28) = -. 96, my emotional biorythm reading as of May 31st Sin ( (360 6322.25) /33) = -. 5, my intellectual biorythm reading as of May 31st Then, I figured out when there was a key location: Physical- 23 day cycle/ 4 key locations = a key location every 5.75 days.
Emotional- 28 day cycle/ 4 key locations = a key location every 7 days Intellectual- 33 day cycle/ 4 key locations = a key location every 8.25 days For my biorythms, I chose to study the month of May. During May, report cards came out, my band had its first gig, and student council was the busiest it had been in some time. I decided to chart this month because it was close to the due date, and involves both reflections on past dates, actions, and reactions, and the projection of how to cope, and deal with the rest of the month, knowing the sinusoidal patterns that lie in front of me. A general biorhythmic sense of mediocrity was with me at the Battle of the Bands on The 9th of May. My Intellectual was slightly lagging, but on the incline, and my Physical was at 0 with my emotional. In keeping my performance at the battle of the bands was mediocre.
Although not stellar on my instrument, I kept the beat, and coped with an unforeseen problem with a somewhat cool head. In dealing with the band, attempting to practice more, trying to get gigs, and doling money out to fix equipment, my biorythms have been all over the place. It is visible too. With a band practice on the 23, we played well, however it was fight, I had forgotten some of the guitar parts, and my timing was off. Perhaps no so coincidentally, my intellectual biorythms were at the "critical" levels with my Emotional on the decline quickly being tailed with my physical. Overall, although there is no way to prove the validity of biorythms, it is safe to say that the occurrences in my life have not disproved them.
With the band, my performance has been almost in keeping with my biorythms. In addition, I will have to prepare my self for the next couple of days, which promise not to be the easiest of days. Perhaps my lagging biorythms are the cause for my less-than-admirable performance on recent trigonometry examinations, such examinations that may entail reevaluation by merciful and understanding Torrington High School instructors.
