Analysis: With scientific knowledge the graph has turned out like it should have turned out, in that the resistance will increase as the length of a wire increases. This is because of the idea, discussed in the prediction that if you double length, you double the number of atoms in it. As the charges move through the conductor they collide with other atoms. They transfer some of their kinetic energy. This transfer on collision is what causes resistance. So doubling length doubles the amount of atoms, and so collisions and resistance Using the equation Resistance = Voltage / Current, I worked out the resistance according to ohm!'s Law.

From my graph, I have found the pattern that the higher the voltage, the higher the resistance becomes. The graph shows that as the length of the wire increases, so does the resistance of the wire. An example of this is when the experiment at 20.0 cm was taken the average resistance was 4 SS'U and when compared to 40.0 cm the avg. resistance was 8 SS'U. At 40.0 cm the resistance had doubled from 20.0 cm and the reason for this was because current had to pass through double the atoms in the wire and so therefore the resistance doubled. I repeated the experiment at each length 3 times, to make sure that my results were accurate and fair. The results were then used to find the average resistance, so that it can then be plotted on the graph. The graph was is a straight line through the origin, which means resistance is directly proportional to length.
