"In the past two hundred years, over one million Americans have died for their country. Monuments have been built and speeches have been delivered, honoring these American heroes. America is now engaged in a war where there are no heroes, no monuments or accolades - only victims. Our society has declared war on its most helpless members - our unborn children.

Since the war declared on January 22, 1973, there have been over 45 million deaths". (National Right to Life) Abortion is the termination of pregnancy by various means, including (brutal) medical surgery before the fetus is able to sustain independent life. Abortion has also been very popular and debatable topic but I personally feel that abortions are wrong and I intend to defend the innocent human beings who are unable to defend themselves. I support women who give life not take it away, who despite the odds give birth and decide not to abort.

My purpose today is to persuade you to support my cause because everyone should have the opportunity to live. The most significant case in the history of abortion in America was the Roe vs. Wade case. On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down all laws in every state that in any way had protected the lives of developing unborn children. It legalized abortion in all 50 states, for the full nine months of pregnancy, for health reasons. Abortion was legalized because of the following three reasons: 1. For health reasons?

Or should we say mental reasons. What we have granted to one citizen is the absolute legal right to have another human being killed in order to solve their own personal, social or economic problems. Are these health reasons? I believe not.

Health reasons are defined by when the mother is in a life and death situation as a result of her pregnancy. 2. Abortion was introduced because ignorance. The court ruled once and for all that unborn humans were not legal persons saying that "It isn't human until it looks human".

This was ignorance of the time but we cannot continue to live by these rules. Dr. Ancona, an embryologist specialist states that "Technology has evolved so much and has proved to us that conception marks the beginning of human life. Microscopes, ultrasonic movies, stethoscopes and genetic knowledge enables us to see the reality, all of which go far beyond the limited knowledge obtained by sight alone". If we have such facts before us, how is it that we continue to deny the reality? We have all gone through the same stage of development to become who we are today.

If this stage were to be eliminated in our lives, we would not be here today. 3. Abortion was introduced due to discrimination against an entire class of living humans, on the basis of age (too young) and place of residence (still living in the womb). There is discrimination in the way the government acts towards women who after giving birth place babies in garbage bags or abandon, to those whose babies are piled up in garbage containers. Why the different treatment, why punish one and not the other, why allow one act and not the other? This brings me to answer the challenge able question "Does a woman have the right to choose?

In the famous Lincoln-Douglas debates, Mr. Douglas defended the right to choose. Abraham Lincoln's answer comes down to us clear. His reply was "No one has the right to choose to do what is wrong". Note carefully the answer. Many misinterpret the question. The "real question", the first, most important and overriding question, is not "who decides", but a question about the action itself, choose to do what?

We must first ask ourselves, "Is abortion right or wrong?" Only then can we answer the question of who has the right to choose to do it. To do what? Kill innocent human life. The reproductive choice found unborn children unworthy to live because they are too young to defend themselves.

This has causes million babies to die. We cannot continue to believe that babies are not humans until they are born for we are all humans and therefore equal regardless of race, color or age. Choosing abortion is outrageously common. Pro-choice Americans (to kill) are shortsighted enough to claim 45 million deaths as a result of abortion since 1973, and feel it is a victory. The mission Pro-choice americans supposed altered drastically abandoning their original mission: to empower women. When a woman has an abortion, it does not mean she is empowered.

It usually means she feels she has no other option. She feels her family, friends or church will judge her. She feels she cannot afford raising a baby. Forty-seven percent of the time, she has other children to support. She feels being a single mother will be much too difficult. She feels she cannot have the education or career if she has a baby.

That is not empowerment of women. The word "choice" is the perfect word for empowerment. But the simple fact is that many women who find themselves with an unplanned pregnancy are limited in their choices. Pro-choice Americans support legal abortion when the pregnancy results from rape. Statistics reveal the following: Social Reasons (given as primary reason) "Hard Cases" (given as primary reason) Feels unready for responsibility 21% Mother's Health 3% Feels she can't afford baby 21% Baby may have health problem 3% Concern for how baby would change her life 16% Rape or Incest 1% Relationship 12% TOTAL: 7% Problem Feels she isn't mature enough 11% Has all the children she wants 8% Other reasons 4% TOTAL: 93% This chart enables us to understand the reasons for abortion. These facts reveal that abortion as a result of rape happens rarely.

Pregnancy from the outcome of rape happens so rarely that you might find it odd that only 1% of abortions are done as a result of rape. The following factors help us to comprehend the 1%. A woman is capable of being fertilized only three days out of her 30-day (month). One-third of women are either too old or too young to become pregnant.

15% of all women in the United States of child-bearing age are currently on a method of contraception. 68% of the assailants that penetrate a women's body do not deposit sperm. This maybe happens because sperm is a live DNA which can be obtained from a vaginal examination which can serve to find the perpetrator. Hormone production is controlled by a part of the brain which is easily influenced by emotions. There's no greater emotional trauma that can be experienced by a woman than an assault rape. This can radically upset her possibility of ovulation, fertilization, implantation and even nurturing of a pregnancy.

20% of women are sterile. 15% of men are sterile. So, if rape is not the reason women are aborting why should abortion be supported? In one study of 37 rape pregnancies, 28 pregnancies were carried to term.

Several studies done across America reveal that women who were encouraged to use abortion in such circumstances felt that they had been put through a second act of violence, the violence and pain of the mechanical rape of abortion. Worse than that, they stated feelings of being made into the victimizer of their own child. They felt that their baby had paid with his / her life for the crime of the rapist. Meanwhile, mothers who found support to carry their children to term, whether they opted for adoption or kept their babies, felt that they'd turned something horrible into something life-giving. There are better solutions we can offer these women who are also victims of abortion. Most women are not aware of the risks and dangers they face.

Women are facing both medical and mental dangers. Their medical dangers are from infection, hemorrhage, urine perforation, castration and to death in some cases. Their mental dangers are caused by the trauma, the moral torment, confusion, desperation, distress and depression. These mental side effects of post abortion cause 34.7 per 100,000 women to commit suicide.

Their emotionally instability and despair prior to abortion makes them unable to comprehend the treats she and her baby face. Currently 38 states have mandatory parental consent and 10 states have mandatory husband consent since 1990. Parental and father consent should definitely be considered and encouraged because they can offer support, counseling and a possible alternative such as adoption to abortion. This is an issue that involves two human beings, the child and the mother and the community as a whole should be involved because what is at stake is and should be a priority: human life. We should be able to offer these women unconditionally help to guide them through the difficult stages they encounter in order for them to overcome the fear that empowers them to commit such a crime.

Even though I didn't enjoy bush as a president, I can thank him for one thing, passing the Partial Abortion Ban in 2003. This same bill was passed in 1995 and 1997. Partial abortion ban opened our eyes to the reality and cruelty of abortion and the stages when abortion takes place. During the full nine months abortion was legal, until 2003. Partial Abortion Ban refers an abortion procedure done to the baby when he is 20 weeks old and older. The way this procedure is executed is insensitive because the skull of the baby is so big that if done otherwise the baby will be delivered vaginal, alive and could possibly survive because the minimum infant survival is 21 weeks.

The first procedure is to pull the baby half way out. Next the skull is crushed and the brain is suctioned. Then the baby is completely pulled out dead from the mothers womb and later discharged. Laws have been passed to adopt this ban in 30 states. New York State is not one of them in fact it is the state where more abortions take place in the United States. 47% of all abortions are repeats, according to The Alan Guttmacher Institute.

In "Abortionist speaks" an interview was conducted by Dr. Willke to a former abortionist. Eric Harrah, the former abortionist that performed 40 to 50 abortions a day, stated he had "clients" on whom he performed 15 to 20 abortions, mostly teenagers, emotionally unstable, and in great need of psychiatric help who faced unplanned pregnancies. Eric Harrah, also stated that if young people had more awareness, correct counseling, support from the baby's father, easier access to contraceptives and were educated in their use, abortion would cease to be a problem and used as birth control. My mission today is simple. I have brought together information on the abortion debate from many different sources. I believe these facts point to an obvious conclusion.

You are free to accept or reject my conclusions but I simply persuade you to view the debate on the basis of fact.
