Abortion Under The Constitution example essay topic
No state shall make or force any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens or immunities of the citizens of the united states; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without the process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. Under the fourteen amendment personal liberty, women are given the right to receive an abortion. The right to choose to have an abortion is so personal and essential to women lives that without that right women cannot exercise other fundamental rights and liberties guaranteed be the constitution (William 146). Because of this decision almost every third of the babies conceived in America is killed by abortion, over one and a half million babies a year (William 146).
Allowing abortion to be legal is immoral even if it is protected by the constitution. The only reason that I would favor abortion is if the mothers life or health is in danger. Another reason would be if the women had been raped. In that case I would understand that having the baby would cause them great pain and could lead to depression. Though even then I would much rather them give the child up for adoption. Adoption is a great method to give the child the opportunity to live.
There are many couples in the world that want a child, and the only way for them to do so is by adoption. There are other alternatives to give up a baby instead if killing him or her. Women have been given the right to have an abortion under the constitution, but the people that fight for the unborn childs rights is still arguing this right. Pro-rights 4 activists claim that it is immoral because it is simply defined as murder. Life begins in conception it is another strong point brought up by pro-life activists. Before the child is born it is given the organs to survival.
Before birth the child's heart beats, gastric juices flow in the stomach, and all necessary organs have developed in their place. The child thinks, feelings, and feels pain. Some women may look at having an abortion to solve their problems, but hopefully these women begin to realize that they are killing a part of themselves, and that there are many other alternatives.
