My Action Plan I am doing a child study on Angel Marie Sweet man who is 1 and a half years old. My study will include photographs and colour in order to make it more interesting. It will be based on when Angel was 10 months old up until she is 2. I will gather as much information as possible on Angel as a new baby, her physical, intellectual and social development.

This will include me spending a lot of time with Angel observing and playing with her. I will include a letter to the parents to ask for permission to work on Angel, and after the study will present Angel with a certificate of thanks. The Birth Kelly went into labour early hours of the 11th of November 2001, She was unaware she was having the baby as it was 1 week and a half early. Her boyfriend, Stephen, rang the ambulance and explained Kelly had fell into labour. When the ambulance arrived Kelly felt more in control and the labour was easier to bare.

Kelly arrived at the hospital (national hospital of Wales) and fell into fast labour. She was in labour for over 4 hours! Angel was born 11: 15 am on November 11th 2001. The doctors rushed Angel to an incubator to check that her heartbeat was not irregular as she was nearly 2 weeks early. Angel was monitored for about 2 hours to check that nothing was wrong.

Kelly was reunited with Angel at about 1: 30 pm. She was delighted as well as Stephen to have a baby daughter. These developments were noted on Angel at the age of 10 months... Physical Development - aged 1 and 7 months Angels physical development has progressed a lot.

Angel has a lot of playground equipment and bikes and scooters. She especially likes her Tweenies bike which she runs for as soon as she goes out to play. Angel is able to attempt cycling on a 4 wheeled trike, unfortunately she is unable to do this as her legs are still not strong enough. When on a swing Angel pulls her legs back and forth which shows excellent physical development.

Angel started walking without help at the age of 11 months. Now at the age of 1 and 6 months she can run! She will chase after her pet dog and after children if they are playing with her. Now at the age of 1 and 7 months Angel is able to do the normal things a 2 year old does! Intellectual Development - Aged 1 and 7 months At the age of 10 months Angel was able to: Imitate small words Begun to point Words were symbolic Understood simple commands Her babbling become tuneful Developing first words Understood simple instructions By the age of 1 year and 7 months Angel is able to talk clearly enough so that adults can understand her, is able to call her dog by its name "Jake". Sing along to her favourite children's programme 'Balimory' Angel understands what you tell her to do and also reacts to them commands instantly.

Angel enjoys looking through books and naming the characters e.g. The Tweenies Annual 2003. She names the characters well, especially "Doodles". Now at the age of 1 and 7 months Angel is at the right stage of intellectual development that shes meant to be at. Creativity Angel is very creative for her age and likes to spend time drawing dancing and... trying to sing!

Angel enjoys scribbling with a crayon and paper. She doesn't attempt to make anything out of them as she is too young to understand. When Angel is bored Kelly switches on the TV to channel 38... THE BOX! she loves just standing there dancing and babbling to the music.

Her babbling is in tune with the song though! She loves having the attention of everyone saying to her "clever girl" because of her dancing. She loves making people laugh by doing "boo" and "atcchh " along with the actions. That's what I'm greeted to every time i see her. Social Development Angel is a very friendly little girl who mixes well with other children around her. Angel loves to make people laugh as she loves the attention!

Although Angel is friendly she gets jealous when her mum is talking or hugging other children. When she is at the park she will share her toys with other children and chase after them playing. Angel would play for hours in her bedroom if she was alone. She loves playing with the water in the bathroom and messing about with her toothpaste and toothbrush. Emotional Development Angel becomes very emotional for the slightest of reasons! If you tell her "No" she will cry, if you take a toy of her she will cry.

Whatever you do that doesn't please her... she will cry! Angel is too young to express her feelings so i understand how difficult it is for her. When Angel is hot she becomes frustrated and then becomes emotional. Safety in the home Whilst observing Angel in he home i assured Kelly of the dangers in the home because i took a first aid course last year. Children like to explore and find out what things are. They are not aware of what some of these e.g. objects can actually do to them.

Accidents do happen. They are most likely to happen to children! Avoiding Falls Board up banisters, a young child can climb up and fall over. Teach the child to put toys away, this will reduce them falling. Fit all upstairs windows with saftey locks Use a safety gate on stairs Never put a baby bouncer on a table Always use the straps on a pushchair Avoiding scalds and burns Use a coiled wire on ur kettle to stop it hanging. Put the iron away after use Use the back rings on your cooker Don't hold hot drinks with the child around Always put lots of cold water in the childs bath Use a full sized fireguard Avoiding Poisoning Keep medicines out of sight Keep household and gardening bottles away from children Never give an empty container to your child Don't use industrial chemicals at home Avoiding Chocking and suffocation Keep buttons coins and small objects away from under 3's Make sure small game pieces are out of reach Don't let a child under 6 have peanuts Keep plastic bags away from children Avoid clothes with ribbons Don't give babies under 1 pillows or cot duvets Every year about half a million under the age of five go to hospital because of accidents at home.

Table to show which types: Type of accident Percentage (100% all) Unknown 7% Other 3% poisoning 0% Foreign body 2% Cut 10% Struck 9% Falls 69% As you can see Falls are the most often injury that children under 5 are taken to hospital for. It seems as if nobody under the age of 5 is taken into hospital because of poisoning. After i told Kelly all of this information she told me that Angel falls over all the time and sometimes cuts herself. She has even fallen down 5 steps on the stairs through not having a stair guard. Interview on Safety I asked Kelly 4 questions about safety: 1) What have u learned after Angel fell down the stairs?

Always put a stair guard up then there's no chance of them falling! 2) What do u do with your detergents? Keep disinfectants and bleaches in the top cupboard 3) What do you do with sharp objects? Put things like knifes in draws where the child cant reach 4) What about the hot things? Make sure nothing hot is on any surface they can reach.
