An ethnic notion is a very disturbing but absorbing video which leads viewers into a wave of stereotypic American history of black people. The images of anti-black prejudice tell the story of evolution of racial consciousness in America. Because of their physical appearance, black people were always considered as a symbol of ugliness and attraction in the minds of white people. The white people always used these images of blacks in commercial advertisements to make their products more funny and attractable.

Loyal toms, carefree sambos, faithful mammies, savage brutes, and grinning coons are some of the examples of this kind of advertisements. These non humanized actions permeated popular culture from the 1820's to the civil rights periods and implemented themselves deep in the American psyche. This video shows the history of each stereotype in white society's shifting needs to justify racist oppression from slavery to present day. The insidious images exacted a deva sting toll on black American and continue to undermine race relations. They used to work as servants in white people's homes and were known as good servants.
