America's Role example essay topic
Today we live in the most powerful and influential nation in the history of the world. Many countries look to the United States for guidance. Based on this fact, I feel that America should act as a moral, economic, and political role model to the world. Contrary to what many people believe, morality has improved in many places. Recently, it became legal for Russian citizens to worship in the religion of their choice. This is a huge step in the right direction, but there must be more to follow.
Our society must taken action and strive to insure basic human rights are recognized in all countries. Not only is America the most powerful country in the history of the world, it is also the richest. Because we are leaving the century with a balanced budget, we are put in the position to act as a economic role model for the rest of the globe. We must make every effort to share our knowledge and technology with others. It is important to realize that if a country's citizens are improving their economy and standard of living, they are more content. This makes them less likely to look for conflict inside their borders or beyond.
Another aspect of our country that must be influential throughout the world is our government. Perhaps the main factor of our democratic government would be our military presence. Over the past few years the U.S. has become a military police force throughout the world. Our troops have been sent to various locations to aid in preventing and stopping crimes against humanity.
We have to realize that is impossible for us to solve every country's problems, but we cannot shy away from major atrocities. This lesson was learned after trying to avoid entering World War II. Our reluctance to enter the war almost resulted in a world dominated by Adolph Hitler. Education could be a key tool in the prevention of problems such as this. For instance, Communism has almost been eliminated due to the simple fact that people learned it does not work. We can help other countries avoid certain problems by teaching the lessons we have learned from previous experiences.
I believe that it is imperative for the United States of America to act as the world police in the year 2000. We must help to educate many of the under developed countries on many issues such as morality, human rights, economics, government, and military. Not only will this help in the protection of our own nation, but it will also make for a better Earth. If we will use the ideas of Benjamin Franklin and work on improving one aspect at a time, the U.S. could quite possibly become a moral, economic, and political role model for the entire world upon entering the new millennium.
