Introduction Pyramids were very large, took a long time to build and many people were needed to build them. There were many rooms inside the pyramids and each room was very large. There were many secret passageways with lots of traps. It took many blocks to build one pyramid and these blocks were very large. Why I'm writing this paper am writing this paper because I studied about Ancient Egypt. I learned a lot about pyramids and how they were made, working on the TAG project.

I also want to learn if pyramids were built by just men or if women were also involved. I want to learn more about how long it took to build them and if many people died while building them. I'd like to know how many blocks were used in building the pyramids, how tall they are, how many men it took to build one and if the blocks were small or large. I also would like to know how they got the blocks up so high. I think researching this paper will make a difference in my life because I might be able to tell my own kids about what I learn.

Also, I can hold a conversation with my family and friends about this subject and help them understand some of the interesting facts. The Search went about looking for my information by using my computer at home when I had spare time. I used many different WEB sites to collect facts on this subject. My Dad also helped me get some of the information off of our home computer.

He was a big help! I also got some of my information off of the computers at school and from books I found in the school library. Most of the information was gathered from my home computer. What I Learned and Didn " t While researching Ancient Egyptian pyramids, I learned that Egypt became a united nation about 5000 years ago. For 3000 years, it was ruled by its own Kings. Egypt was divided into several different Periods, but the most important were the Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom and New Kingdom.

During The Old Kingdom, the rulers built the pyramids. The men who built the pyramids were led by the kings, engineers and architects. I also found that they were so big because they thought that the Kings had to have the biggest and the best of everything. This time period was known as the Pyramid Age by the Ancient Egyptians. The Royal Pyramids that the rulers built were on the west bank of the Nile River. Some of the large pyramids that the Kings built could take over twenty years to build because they were so large.

Some of the larger pyramids could have over one million stone blocks in them. The stone blocks weighed four and a half tons or more. Some of the blocks in the Great Pyramid at Giza weighed nine and one half to fifteen tons. That's a whole lot of stone and rocks! When I was reading an article, I found that researchers think the Egyptians could have used four different methods to build the pyramids.

I was only able to find one proven method when I was reading the information. This method is that several ramps were built on each side of the pyramid going to the level they needed. As the pyramid grew in height, the ramps were raised higher and the base was made larger and wider. If this was not done, the ramp would collapse.

The blocks were made of bricks and rubble. To get the blocks up so high, they used ropes, levers and pulleys. They also put the blocks on logs to make them move up the ramp more easily. To pull the blocks up the ramps many men held on to ends of ropes that were tied around the blocks.

These ropes were also tied around their waists. Each man then pulled as hard as he could. These men had to be really strong! What this means to me and why The research I did on Ancient Egyptian pyramids tells me that the people who built them were probably very strong because they had to get the big stone blocks into place and up the large ramps. They were probably very wealthy because pyramids cost a lot of money to build-especially the large pyramids. I also think that they had to be clever because they had to find a way to cut the blocks from the stone, get them to the right size, and other things.

The pyramids must also be well built because they have not completely all fallen down. Most of them are still standing and they are very close to the same size when they were built.
