Animal To Our Chart example essay topic

Classification Lab For this lab I worked with Tani Sugarman. We started by classifying each of our animals in a seven layer classification system. It started very broad by saying that they were animals and each level got more specific as we went. To make each animal unique and unlike any other we said that exact type of animal for the last level of the classification. By making that last level unique the only way another animal could be in the same group is by being the same animal. We did this so if anyone tried to add an animal to our chart it would fit in, in its own place and not ruin our system.

After we came up with seven classifications for each animal we drew a chart that contained those animals we had and made it possible to add animals that we did not already have. We assumed that our chart would work no matter what animal we were given to add. We then received three animals to put into our chart and see if it worked or if we had made a mistake in the process. We added all three successfully.

They all fit into our chart and had their own group that they did not share with any other different animal. We set up our chart so each animal had the option of yes or no to each level of the classification chart. This separated most of the animals by the third level. We assumed that if we made each animal as unique as possible there would be less room for errors. In the end out chart did work with the animals we were given and would work with many others. We believe it is flawless, but I wouldn't be surprised either if there were many flaws.
