Anne And Her Diary example essay topic
They lived in a small attic which consisted of two to three rooms and a single window. Anne referred to it as the "secret annexe". For two years, those close quarters served as a shelter and protection for the families against the Nazi enemy. Anne's major obstacle was obviously trying to endure living in the cramped quarters of the secret annex for over two years with absolutely no privacy and few supplies. She had to share her small room with Mr. Dussek, an old and irritating Jewish dentist. Life in hiding was tedious and boring.
An average 14 year old could have never endured these conditions, but Anne was a very strong individual. Unable to leave the annex, she had to entertain herself with reading, studying, listening to the radio, and doing chores. She was a lively and very talkative girl, but she found that her behavior was often irritating to the others, even to her mother and sister. She was frequently criticized and scolded. She also had to endure the constant bickering of the other occupants of the annex. Particularly when the frequent fights between Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan continued for hours upon hours.
For this reason is why Anne many times cried herself to sleep at night. She had so much fear and frustration. Not only did Anne have to bear these horrible circumstances but she also had to deal with the everyday problems an average teenager has. She was going through the normal and maturing process of an adolescent.
Anne was a moody and emotional girl, just like most teenagers. She was at the point in her life when she wanted freedom and independence. Instead, she was forced into cramped quarters that provided no escape and no privacy. All of her actions were constantly criticized by the rest of the people she was living with.
Many times they openly voiced their disapproval of her behavior. She was always compared to her older sister, Margot, and was underrated for bien g short. She also was judged to be less beautiful, less talented, and less intelligent. This is why many times she questioned her importance and wondered if death might not be better. What in the end helped her overcome all these problems was the fact that she could regularly write in her diary.
She used the diary as a means of escape and to calm herself. She named her precious diary "kitty". She thought of her diary as a close friend because she could tell it her deepest thoughts and frustrations. The other person she felt she could confide in was peter, she eventually learned to enjoy his company and they became very good friends. Unfortunately, neither Peter or the diary could save Anne from the real enemy who were the Nazis. In August of 1944, he and the other occupants of the secret annex were seized by the Gestapo and sent to the concentration camps. very sadly in the end, after all Anne had to go through she died of typhus in the Belsen camp in 1945.
I choose to read this book because back in 7th grade we read parts of "The diary if Anne Frank" but never completely read the entire book. I remember being completely in awe of how such a young girl could be so strong endure all those evils at only 14 years of age. I remember actually crying at one point because everything in the book was just such a reality and to know that it actually happened, truly touched me. Through Anne's experiences she inspired me to never give up no matter what the circumstances. If she could go through such a task then I surely especially nowadays can do anything also, nothing I possibly do in my life can ever be so difficult as what Anne did. This is why I now know anything is possible if you have faith.
Also I learned that family is the only true love your really have, and that no matter what you will always have them there for you. You can count on your family to comfort you and to make u feel at ease. I have realized that I am obviously very lucky and anytime I think I have it bad, I can just think back to Anne Franks like and her families. Never in my entire life will I ever have to go through what she did, and I am very lucky to be living and to have been born in a place where we do not allow that sort of extreme racism to occur. If I could ask Anne anything Id like to ask her if she had any regrets in her life, since she did live such a short life, would there have been things she would have done differently? If she could go back to those 2 years in hiding would she choose to stay there, was it worth it, or would she have given in right away if she knew she was going to die anyway?
Would she have gotten it over with and died rather than suffer for 2 years like she did? And also I would like to ask her what exactly happened after she got caught, how things were for her in the concentration camp, and some specific instances she could remember that happened at the camp. Thanks to Anne and her diary, she opened my eyes and really made me realize that world can be cruel and sometimes you just have to be grateful no matter how bad you think you have it.
