Antigone The Impossible example essay topic

The play Antigone, by Sophocles, shows courage and strength. "Impossible things should not be tried at all" is a discouraging quote stating that one should not work for something that he or she is not capable of doing. The impossible can become possible in many ways. By walking on the Moon, our society has shown the world that the impossible can become possible.

For example, it was a big risk when NASA sent their first astronaut into space. This proves that if one can set his or her mind to a certain goal, they can accomplish anything and make the impossible possible by just trying; by taking risks one can get farther in life and succeed. This explains that humans have evolved to a better existence. In addition, when Armstrong walked on the moon it became a worldwide event. This reveals that going for those dangers of life can improve not only the society, but also the accomplisher as well. This proves that our world has become better because of the people that make the impossible possible.

Eventually, in the future, our civilization will keep advancing and overcome what today has already accomplished. Trying to make the impossible possible has its consequences. For example, trying to jump into Niagara Falls. This shows that it can be possible, but dangerous by resulting in death.

This verifies that impossible things cannot always be possible. In addition, people today face the danger of impossible things. This confirms that even though it is said to be impossible, it can eventually be made possible. This explains why the world is so advanced and developed today.

Everyone can learn from their mistakes. Through Antigone the impossible is trying to become possible. For example, Ismene refuses Antigone to give Polynices a proper burial because it is against the law. This shows that Antigone is willing to risk her own life for the sake of her brother to find peace. This proves that the impossible, breaking the law, can still be carefully committed. In addition, when Antigone and Ismene fight about Polynieces' burial, Ismene claims that Antigone cannot do it.

This makes Antigone want to risk it even more to show her sister. This shows that Antigone is not afraid of danger even if it is death; she does not fear the impossible. Even though Ismene, in a way, wants to help Antigone, she cannot face the chance of getting caught. Through out the play, overcoming impossibilities is the obstacle. Making the impossible possible has its consequences.

Learning from our mistakes is one of the reasons why the world is so advanced today as opposed to Greek times. Walking on the moon was one of the impossibilities that helped the world advance. Since the 60's we have come so far, imagine what we can do in the fifty or so years.
