Athletes Reason example essay topic
Although it showed that, Filipino athletes gave their best by all means, but I think their best wasn't good enough. One example is the basketball team. All were expecting a gold from them but it doesn't turn out the way we anticipated. We underestimated the capability of China, Korea and Kazakhstan. What is one year of training compared to ten years or even more?
They must realize that Champions do not become champions on the court. They are merely recognized there. Their becoming happens in their daily routine. This is not just about 1 year or so; it is a matter of a lifetime. Dedication and hard work is important.
And the key to everything is patience. As the saying goes "You get the chicken by hatching the egg... not by smashing it". A lot of our athletes engage in a one-time success. The problem is that they got overwhelmed with the glory they gained and soon set aside or even worse, forget their practice.
One reason for this is the incentives that our government give to the medal lists. They give the athletes reason to settle for a one-time achievement. Why don't they give incentives to those who train ten years or more? Those athletes will guarantee us in one way or another to bring home the bacon and give glory to the flag and our country. As the athletes come home from Busan, some have brought medals to give pride while some have none.
The important thing is each and everyone has his own remarkable experience to ponder at. Even for those who are defeated, may they look at it as a stepping-stone and not as a stumbling block. May that experience inspire them to strive harder. To represent the country is a great privilege. The country is expecting a lot from our present and future athletes. They must not be champions on the court but rather champions in life.
So attempt great things, dream bigger dreams and aspire more than medals..
