Down Syndrome is a chromosomal disorder characterized the presence of an extra twenty one chromosomes. Instead of having 46 chromosomes in his or her cells, a person with down syndrome has 47 chromosomes. Down Syndrome occurs in approximately one out of every 800 to 1000 live births, being one of the most often observed chromosome anomalies. However the cause of these anomalies is unknown to this day. These children look more like families than they do one another, They have a full complement of emotions and attitudes, They are creative and imaginative in play and pranks, they grow up to live independent lives with varying degrees of support and accommodations needed. Although Down Syndrome will not be the most interesting thing about those babies, as they grow up, they fill life with unimaginable delight and difficulties.
