Back To Temple example essay topic
It didn't have air conditioning. It was hot and muggy inside. Our youth choir quadrupled their attendance that Sunday. Going to their church was awesome.
We even got to sing three songs for them. After church, we went to a huge park in down town Philadelphia to play a weird kind of kickball. When we got to the park, there were hundreds of people there having picnics and cookouts surrounding an empty base ball field. So we went to the field and divided into two teams and started playing. A few minutes into the game a couple of kids came over and wanted to play. So we put them on teams and played with them.
Soon we had about forty parents and children playing with us. Before we left we prayed with them and gave the salvation key changes that we had made before we left home. When we got back to Temple, we ate dinner there. The food there was awful, they served us moldy bread and food that wasn't even cooked all the way. Gross! Hardly anyone ate the food there.
We just all waited until we got back to our rooms to eat. When we got back to our rooms we had about three hours to do whatever we wanted to do, staying inside Temple before we had to go to bed. Temple is a huge University. So a couple of my friends and I decided to walk around. While we were walking, we stopped in front of a window on the third floor of temple.
We were talking and one of my friends that I was talking to likes to move her hands around when she talks. So she was talking and moving her hands around and a man outside saw us and went inside to find us. When he found us he started signing stuff to us. We were confused because we didn't know what he was saying.
I guess he thought we knew sign language, but we didn't. So we went to find Wayne who knew sign language. Wayne is our choir director. We found him and he starting talking to this man. It turned out that his name is Robert, and he lives in Connecticut. He is a director of Shakespeare plays for the deaf.
He was in Philadelphia because he was asked to direct a play, but when hw got there that had cancelled the play. So they gave him a place to stay at Temple University until he could get back home. The next day we went back to Mount Hope Baptist Church. The pastor and some of the members of the church showed us around Philadelphia.
We divided up into groups and went different ways and prayed walked around the neighborhood. The houses there were called row houses. They looked real old and torn down. There was trash all around the houses and on the sidewalk.
There was also broken glass on the sidewalk and on the road. Some of the houses had broken windows. There seem to be a drug house on every corner. It was totally different compared to Marion. After the prayer walk we all got back on the bus and went to a mall. The mall that we went to was three stories tall. we went to this mall to sing and do drama.
We were all excited to sing there. We sang for more than three hundred people. It was awesome and we were so excited to sing for them. The next day we went to the Philly's Stadium. We went there to sing the National Anthem for the Philly's game. I was really excited and nerves at the same time.
We even got to meet Frankie Avalon. He was there to throw the first pitch. He watched us sing and said that we did an awesome job. We sang the National Anthem for over twenty eight thousand people. It was so awesome to sing the National Anthem. Going to Philadelphia was an awesome experience.
Philadelphia is full of our country's history. It was neat to see how other people live. We were also able to share our faith with them and see their lives changed. I felt like we made a differences in their lives. It was very rewarding. I can't wait until next summer when we get to go back.
