Begin Of The Iraq War example essay topic

457 words
On Wednesday the 19th of March, a terrible war started: the cryptic war against Iraq. Several weeks before the beginning of this war, a number of sessions took place in the United Nations. The results of the investigations, which were carried out by UN inspectors to find out whether Iraq had Mass destruction weapons (MDW) or not, were analyzed in long and very arduous debates to elucidate the matter. Yet only apocryphal evidence of MDW were found. Most of the countries, especially European countries, deprecated strongly against the idea of using military force to disarm Iraq. On the 17th of March, President Bush gave Saddam Hussein 48 hours to capitulate.

This is the first time in the history of the world that a president orders another president from a different country to discharge! But Bush's voice of defeat was never heard instead Saddam explicitly told President Bush that the Iraq would never capitulate and admonished the US by saying that: "I will cut off every soldier's head". But these threats did not stop the United States from launching their so called "mission of saving the world"! A few hours before announcing the begin of the Iraq war, President's Bush demeanor was truly remarkable: he was playing with his dog in the White House's terrace! At approximately 4 a.m. on the 19th, the Iraq was bombarded by the US Navy with tens of bombs and missiles, each weighing over one ton to enervate the Iraq. Then American and British Special Forces were deployed in South Iraq crossing the Kuwaiti border.

Bush was hoping for quick and swift war but a few days after the war had started he reaffirmed that the US forces will continue this war as long as it takes to disarm the Iraq and to "free the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein's regime". The war started off with some incidents: two helicopters crashed and an American airplane was shot down by friendly fire. The following days the British and American forces continued their chronic march towards Baghdad but faced some difficulties: heavy sand storm and unexpected resistance from the Iraqi militias. On the 7th day of this war, the British and American bombarded Baghdad with 10 ton bombs, which were dropped from their B-52 airplanes almost effacing a complete neighborhood from the world map and engendering the death of tens of innocent civilians.

Today the US forces are about 50 kilometers from the capital and are encountering heavy resistance. Saddam Hussein is still alive and the Iraq regime still untouched... Is the United States' unjustified role of "world policeman" ever going to end? Fouad Tue ni.
