Overdrive describes me, always thinking, planning, and searching for ways to make life easier. More so now that I am recently divorced, this has made me a new single mother of three spectacular children. This responsibility places me in a position of financial dissatisfaction. My children's future falls in the hands of the decisions and choices I make. The responsibility of my children has provided me a keen eye to take advantage of the opportunities that come knocking on my door because I know whatever I choose with my life will affect theirs.

Continuing my education will be the stepping-stone that will lay the foundation needed for financial success and growth. Pondering over the goals and dreams I want to achieve, I did some evaluating and probing on my strengths and weaknesses. Also, I assessed what my capabilities and talents were to assist me in determining exactly what and how I was going to make my dreams come true. This evaluation has brought me to an understanding that education is the key to financial success in today's world. Beginning in 1997 I served three years in the United States Navy, as a Ship Serviceman.

My responsibilities were supplies, laundry and maintaining the daily operations of the commissary stores. While I was serving time in the Navy my perspective of life changed and it inspired me that the path I was on needed to be changed. The navy was an eye-opener and a motivation, which showed me the many opportunities that are available for me. I realized that there are many roads that I can walk down and it was in the Navy that provided me the courage to follow the path that I always wanted to take, and that is to continue my knowledge about computers. So after I was discharged from the Military I knew that going back to school would make me more marketable. I have received a diploma in Networking Technology and have obtained my Comptia - A+ Certification, in which I worked extremely hard to get.

Now that those goals are reached and have been able to gain some experience in the computer industry, I have decided that I would pursue a degree in Information Technology. Presently I am gaining my experience as a full time Technical Support / Customer Services employee at The Sutherland Group / Gateway. Here I assist others by phone to troubleshoot and configure their hardware and software problems. I am learning a lot about different operating systems, installing software and handling disgruntled customers.

This opportunity has encouraged me to pursue further on increasing my education, where my skills will be more fine-tuned and I will become more viable. Also in my spare time, I develop my computer skills by doing computer repair side jobs. I am hoping this leisure pursuit will become the beginning of my own computer business. In my search to acquire what my personal achievements are has provided me many ideas and has stirred me to grow to my fullest potential. One of my greatest strengths is to be both persistent and flexible. In my search to acquire my goals, I found that University Of Phoenix's teaching structure and schedule flexibility would allow me to maintain my home and job responsibility.

Another asset I have is being a team player. And UOP will assist me in developing the skills I need to be a positive role mode. By being part of a team I will learn not only to be a good subordinate but also to build the skills I need to be a good leader. Being part of a team will train me to reach one of my deepest dreams, which is to have my own computer company. In owning a business, I will need to learn how to converse, guide and motivate the people that will be working in my establishment. The book Tools for Teams is an excellent way for me to begin acquiring this knowledge for my future business.

The support and goals of the group and also my own inner strength will encourage and edify me to continue climbing the ladder of success. I am my children's future. The decision I make in life affects their lives. Continuing my education will be the stepping stone that will lay the foundation needed for financial succeed and growth. I hope this pursuit will make me even more marketable to acquire financial gain in this competitive field.
