Beginning Of The War example essay topic

441 words
I believe that the United States had the right to remain out of World War II, in the beginning of the war. I feel, that whenever possible it is always better to keep peace, than to make war. The rest of the world was at war, and trying to pull the U.S. in. Many people did not want to go to war again, and even 70% of Americans felt the U.S. never should have entered WWI. Eventually I feel that it was necessary for the U.S. to enter the war, and they made the right decision by doing so, but in the beginning of the war, the U.S. had reasons to not be involved in the affairs of other countries. One reason being, that the conflicts happening in the beginning of the war, did not affect the United States.

I feel that before one country (such as the U.S. in this case), involves itself with other countries in war, they should wait to see if the problem could be resolved by the countries actually involved in the conflict. This way the U.S. would not have to choose sides or create alliance systems, which was a major factor in World War I. Besides than this, the U.S. also had other good reasons for not initially entering WWII. In 1928, the U.S. had signed a pact along with 61 other countries stating that they would never make war again. By entering WWII, against the axis powers this would be breaking the pact (Kellogg-Briand pact).

Unless it was necessary, it would not be right for the U.S. to break a signed agreement. Another reason that I feel the U.S. was justified in remaining out of WWII was that many people that did not want to enter the war from the U.S. People across America, were against war. The girl scouts even changed their color from khaki to green, "to appear less militaristic". Even though the events happening with Germany, Italy and Japan would probably soon effect us, most of the U.S. did not want to enter another World War. This is why I feel that the U.S. waited the right amount of time to enter the war. If they did not enter the war at all, the axis powers could have taken over the U.S. along with the rest of the world.

It was evident that Britain was in need of help. On the other hand, entering to soon could have caused even more problems. The U.S. was justified in initially staying out of the war..
