White Lies is a movie about neo-Nazi's. Catherine was a girl that was not fitting in at school. This racist group drew her in by making her feel at home with the whole idea of Nazism. The teenager started out anonymously writing essays for the groups web site but she slowly became more involved until she was leading rallies and getting into fights with protestors.
Finally she realizes what she has gotten herself into and has to find a way out before she gets hurt. Little Criminals is about an 11-year-old shyster who was protected by the young offender's act. This meant that he could basically do anything and the police could not do anything about it until his next birthday. He showed a couple other kids this would be true for them as well and convinced them to come along with him. The "clan's" escapades included stealing a motorcycle, setting a house on fire and assaulting a man. The movie ended when he set his house on fire and he sat in his room and got burned to death.
Scorn was about a homosexual teenager, Darren, who wanted to kill his mother and grandmother to inherit their fortune. Darren hired two other boys to go over to their house one night when he was away. The two would beat the mother and grandmother to death with a crowbar. While they were committing the crime Darren was out with his "girlfriend".
His plan all unraveled when someone saw the "hitmen" on their way to kill the two women. Police brought the first boy for questioning and he confessed with the full story. This left Darren and the other two to serve time in prison. Scorn was based on a true story from Vancouver BC.
There was one movie that portrayed the most about the legal system. That movie was Little Criminals. This movie really showed how children could get away with just about anything as long as they are under the age of 12. In this movie Dez, the main character assaulted a man, committed grand theft auto and arson. All three times he was caught by the police but was released. This movie really shows how the government should change the legal system so everyone is effected.
This story could take place in real life because some 11-year-olds could figure out that they could do anything. All of these movies were in the same range for entertainment value. They were all okay to watch but there wasn't a movie that stood out as very entertaining. Each movie had positives and negatives. White lies was interesting because it showed how a society can lure a teenager in and make her do whatever they want. It also seemed that Catherine joined the group and then a couple days later just realized that it was bad.
She should have thought ahead and seen recognized this group was a bad influence. Little Criminals was a bit more exciting than the other two. It was interesting to see how the little boys could get away with anything. It seemed a little fake because the police knew that these boys committed the assault, they could have at least kept an eye on the instead of just letting them back into a society that they could harm. The other movie was Scorn. This one was not as entertaining as the other two.
Its problem was that it was too predictable. You could tell that they were going to get caught since Darren was telling everyone at school what he was doing. If he wanted to succeed he should have kept it a secret and not even to his 'girlfriend'. The best movie overall would have to be Little Criminals. It showed more about the legal system and also was a bit more entertaining than the other movies. This movie showed why the government needs to change the young offenders act.
It was also very unpredictable; the ending was very different than what the movie was leading towards. Most people thought that he would end up in jail but instead his mother killed him. All of these movies showed average entertainment value and showed different aspects of Canadian law. Little Criminals provided the best outlook into the criminal world and was entertaining while doing it. This would have to be the best movie out of.
