Bigger Muscle Needs Blood example essay topic

284 words
Planning Aim: We are going to find out what happens to the heart rate of a person when they do various exercises. Hypothesis: I think that the heart rate will increase more dramatically when you exercise an area that contains bigger muscles than an area that contains smaller muscles. I think this because I know that muscles need oxygenated blood to use for energy to move, and so a bigger muscle needs blood more quickly during exercise which make's the heart have to pump faster to get enough oxygen in the blood to get to the muscle in time. Variables: As we change our exercise our exercises (variable 1), the ones that use the most amount of large muscles and little muscles will have the greater effect on the heart rate (variable 2) and it will vary by the amount and size of the muscles the exercises use. Every time we change variable 1 it will have an effect on variable 2 by the way stated above. Doing Apparatus: In order to do this experiment on heart rate we will need a person, stopwatch and areas, which are suitable to do the exercises required.

Measurement: To be able to compare are results easily we are going to take are resting pulse rate for 2 minutes and our pulse rate after exercise for 2 minutes as well. Each exercise will last for 2 minutes and we will do each test twice to make sure that the first result's weren't random. Results: We will plot our results on a graph so it is easier to compare and find patterns. Also we will put them into a table..
