Brief Check On The Main Drug Ecstasy example essay topic
Techno music has its origins in gay dance clubs. Hip-hop also has had a big impact on techno music. Ravers say they lose themselves to the beat and become one with the music by letting the music control their movements. Most drug using rave enthusiasts dance using glow sticks to intensify the effects of hallucinogens. Others perform difficult break dancing moves, which cause the dancer to remain sober and concentrate. But even with the harmony and peace, there is a downside- drugs.
You cannot separate a rave from drug use. Ecstasy (mdm a) is the most popular substance used at these " parties". There is also Crystal Methanphedamine, which is the dirtiest most addictive drug around, also very popular. The next is GHB, more commonly know to the public as the date rape drug. Special K (k etamine) is very popular among the rave crowd, and that's simply an animal tranquilizer. The people that go to raves just to get high are the people that put a stigma on the rave and surrounding culture.
Most rave-goers automatically assume they know everything about the rave scene since there are into the drugs involved. Other ravers are into giving hugs, sharing love and having new experiences, the idea of P.L.U.R. (Peace Love Unity Respect). I would like to give a brief check on the main drug Ecstasy. Which is MDMA sold in pill formation sold for 15-30 dollars each. It is important to understand what it is and its background. Ecstasy or MDMA first originated in 1914 and was used as an appetite suppressant; it was not heavily used again until the 1970's and was used to treat psychological disorders.
Finally in the 1980's the drug administration banned any open use of ecstasy. The main concern was the findings of research about more severe long-term problems. Research reveals evidence of the MDMA damaging the serotonin neurons of the brain. Damages to serotonin transmitters can cause faults in important human responses such as aggression, memory, emotion, sleep and pain.
Recently the drug has become very popular for the influence of the rave movement. The ravers have created many popular slang names for ecstasy such as, Adam, XTC, Clarity, Essence, Beans, Doves, Rave Energy, Cloud 9 and Lover's Speed Although the user may experience feelings of euphoria, the person often is not aware of where the dosage was manufactured or about any of the long-term physical effects it may cause. The ecstasy pills are very cheap to make and often are manufactured in filthy garbage cans in foreign countries. Ecstasy is not difficult to manufacture and therefore a person with little chemistry background is capable of manufacturing and distributing ecstasy. Since the eighties many studies have been completed about the physical effects of ecstasy. The first onset of the effects occurs shortly after the pill is consumed.
While feeling euphoria and well-being the person may also experience side effects such as muscle tension, teeth clenching, nausea, blurred vision, faintness and sweating. Also it is important to drink water because continual dancing combined with ecstasy may cause severe dehydration. I personally have had friends check out the rave scene, just to see what all the hype was about. After they got involved, I watched them slowly but surely talk others into joining, or at least trying some of the drugs. I have noticed their behaviors, the way they dress, and musical preferences have changed dramatically. Their new lifestyles have left them in debt and apparently hooked on a array of new costly substances.
I have given this spill to them in attempts to get them to straighten up and fly right, but they just tell me that if I go to a rave, or try out ecstasy, that I will love it. They may very well be correct, however I would rather save my money and health and stay out of what I hope to be a big trend.
