However the Japanese are defiantly used to the concept of hard work, in fact I feel hard work is the key to their incredibly quick development and to their countries and the Japanese peoples success. Japan was badly effected during world war two, all buildings had been blown up the landscape was a grey miserable pile of rubble, food was also scarce. The Japanese were determined to get their country back into top form and be a country to rival that of America and England. As most cities had been destroyed during the war Japan were able to build their cities up from scratch - this led to modern, sleek buildings and sky scrapers a plenty.

Japan had been given money after the war to pay for damages and to help them sort themselves out, this allowed them to build durable stylish modern buildings and cities they could be proud of. Japan made hi tech production their speciality priding themselves on having all the newest up to date inventions, the Japanese owning all the latest gadgets before we had even heard of them! By being the biggest hi fi's and gadget providers in the world, producing their goods at cheaper prices Japan was soon raking in the money. Aside from building up their city and industry Japan aimed to improve their communications and transport, including state of the art high speed bullet trains controlled by computers. With all the latest gadgets and many services run by robots and computers you would expect Japan to be very impersonal and lacking respect, however Japan is the best country to go to if your looking for respect of elders, your surroundings and good old fashioned good manners. It is a country of hard workers.

Japan has had to import oil for industry but greatly ants to cut back on it. So they have decided to turn to nuclear power, plants have been set up in remote areas in Japan, little villages out of the way of the big ports and cities. However these have caused great concern to residents and fishermen alike. The radiation is killing of the fish and many local residents are worried for their health with all the radiation. However since a big disaster when a factories waste fuel got into a river, flowed downstream and got into the water supply, clean water was no longer available form the taps and water purifiers sold out over night. protests began. Japan decided to no longer cut corners and up until this point have tried and largely managed to progress in industry whilst still caring for and looking after the environment.

All this has happened for Japan because the didn't just plan " oh wouldn't this be a good idea? I want this, this and this! " they had plans for their country and like other countries they put their ideas and plans into action, ideas combined with a nation of people willing to work hard and do their best in all that they do Japan was hardly going to stay a war destroyed country of rubble for long.
