Andrea Weaver September 18, 2002 Block 1 Erin I don't know him. All he did was, to put it polit ley, stick it in my mother, pulled his pants up and went to the next dumb broad. Next thing you know she finds out she is pregnant with me. Pregnant by that sickening excuse for a father. Not even worth label of a sperm donor. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you my name is Erin.

Erin Deijhanique Bell. Look at me, telling my business and not introducing myself. I am a junior at Oakland Tech, or as the white folks like to call it Oakland Technical High School. I am from them shady 80's in E.S.O. Which means East Oakland in the 80's.

I have been living here all my life with the fam. The fam is Moms, my brother Marcus and I. If you haven't guessed I don't live with my father, so just forget about him he ain't nobody. So anyway, I have been discovered in the prime of my life. I am one beautiful singer. I should be I have been doing my singing thing all my life.

I damn sure deserve every penny I make doing it. My "producer" has had me going from town to town, singing here and there, making some extra cash, and just doing it big. I have no weekends and no weekdays. During the week school is priority and on the weekend singing is priority. Ever since I did my first shows my friends have been telling me but forget them.

Last week Tylawnya gone say, "You aint never got time for us no more. You and that singing shit. That's why you aint got a nigga, cause you be neglecting everybody". Tylawnya is just who she is.

We used to be worst enemies before we became friends. She hated my guts. She couldn't stand the sight of me and let everybody in our 4th grade class know it too. That all ended one day when she confronted me about something she heard I said. I told her exactly what I thought about her.

She laughed and respected me for it. Ever since then she became my friend and then into my best friend. My other friend Andrea takes to my defense, "Ty, girl shut up. Your ass just jealous cause you can't sing and niggas ain't breaking they neck's to talk to you".

Andrea is always taking up for me, that is my girl. We call her Drea. She makes people guys in particular call her Queen Drea but I don't. She never says she is pretty or better looking she just is who she is. She is practically cool with everybody. All of her enemies and unimportant issues are squashed.

In fact her famous fraise is, "If they ain't say it to me directly, obviously it ain't worth saying to me". Drea is most definitely quieter about her business than Ty. Ty and Drea maybe total opposites but are completely compatible with our tri-friendship. Now back to me.

I got a little known around the way for singing and people have been already recognizing me. You know how people come out the wood works when you get money, well I haven't got too much money but my "father" has tried to come back in my. I don't know what he thinks he's trying to accomplish but the shit is not flying with me. One day he calls me out the blue, "Hello sweetie."Who is this?"Girl this is your daddy.

You mean to tell me you don't know your daddy's voice?" I got upset because he never calls me. He only calls moms to see if she will "help him out" with her hard earned money. He " ll talk to me to get on moms good side. Always using me.

Hell I ain't got any time for the B.S. So I reply", What do you want? You only call to get money from moms. Maybe you just want something else that only a woman can give you. Hell I don't know maybe you want to get moms pregnant again and desert her again. Yeah that must be it 'cause you ain't sh -"Hey girl! Who you think you are?

You talkin to me like you raised me and that ain't the damn case. So you can cut-"No you talking to me like you raised me! Now that ain't the case. You ain't ever been apart of my life. You have been in and out and do this here and doing that there, and now you want to talk to me like you raised me? You have never been a father to me.

Moms took your place, filled the void you left behind. Don't act interested now and expect me to believe you? Get a grip. So now what do you think you need to say?" His tone changed, "I am sorry Erin.

You know I have been-"Whatever. You have been telling me that all my life. You don't anything new to say? Or is it that you think I fall for it every time you say it?

I am NOT a kid anymore, nor am I naive so don't bull-"I am trying apologizing to you. I really mean it this time. I promise I am going to be more -" Click. I hung up the phone. I knew why he was calling. Thought he was going to get some cash out of me.

Trifling just plan old top notch trifling. Marcus's father has been more of a father to me than him. He even used to apologize for his constant stand-ups and unfulfilled promises. He's no longer with my mom for various reasons but he still treats me like his own. Now that's my father. I don't care what anybody says.

Moms walks in from hearing the commotion, "What's wrong Erin? Who were you yelling at like that?" I shook my head and looked down. My mother, right at that moment, knew who I was talking to. She knew what happened and felt sorry for what she claimed to have brought me in this world and put me through. "Well sweetie at least you told him what's really on your mind instead of keeping it all bottled up inside".

She put her hands on my head and strokes my hair. "Least you didn't acquire my nappy hair. You surely did get my drop dead good looks". She always had away of getting me to laugh when I am mad, disturbed, and what not about things. She always found the brighter side of the worst situation. "I am sick of the games that he plays, mom.

He always get my hopes up and then let me down. He isn't worth a penny to a dime. I can't take all the lying and crap. Then he wants to talk to me like he raised me.

All he ever do is -". I was abruptly interrupted by the phone ringing. I looked at the caller I.D. and it was a blocked number. I knew it was either my father again or another one of Ty's "friends" trying to get the hook-up. "Hello?"He -o?" someone said on the other line with a male voice. "Who is this?"Is this Erin?"This is she.

May I ask who is calling?"OH. Hi Erin this is Anthony from your fourth period science class. Ty said you wouldn't mind me calling you. I don't want you to think I asked Ty for your number, I was just asking her did she know your next class. Then she said 'Well why don't you call her and find out? Here's the number.

She won't mind you calling. ' She was very adamant about me calling you so I thought I would give it a try". I looked at my mother. She laughed, shook her head, and jokingly proclaimed, "I present Erin Queen of all Queens. The heart thief with just one glance without a word spoken". I laughed too.

Anthony said, "Why are you laughing?" He sounded real nervous so. "Oh I was just thinking about how much Ty wants me to get a boyfriend. She is always giving out my number."Ok. I got a little nervous when you laughed. I thought it was something I said. But anyway how are you doing?" I am fine.

Enough small talk", I decided to stir some things up a little. "I am going to cut to the chase. Are you calling me because you want a relationship, because you want to be my friend, or because you think you have a chance to get in my drawers?"I-I don't know. I mean friends and then from there we can see where it leads. You seem nice and real easy on the eyes but that doesn't mean you are girlfriend material. Anyone can bare the title of boyfriend and girlfriend but that doesn't mean relationship wise they are."Oh really?

That's a pretty damn good answer. Ok then we can talk and then we will see where it leads". Anthony and I talked for about four hours about our lives, things we like to do and what not. At the end of the conversation he told me he wanted me to be his girlfriend but only when I am ready to be and not just 'cause he was asking.

"Ok. I will think about it", I said. "Whenever your rea-"Ok I'll be your girlfriend but for now and only for a little while we keep it to ourselves. I don't need any drama."I was thinking the same exact thing."Well I guess I will see you tomorrow Anthony."I guess I will Erin Deijhanique Bell".

I laughed, "Bye... pumpkin". He laughed even harder, "Ok my little pop tart". We both laughed for about two minutes straight and really said goodbye but of course with a few chuckles. I felt pretty good after the phone conversation.

I rarely went out or dated anyone but something about Anthony intrigued me. I mean he has all the qualities. He meets all of my first priority standards. So I was feeling pretty sure of myself. After writing a song for about five minutes I went to bed with Anthony on my mind. A few weeks has gone by since I have talked to my sperm donor.

He usually would " ve called by now. Maybe I really got through to him this time. Then again he just may be out with the next broad wasting his life away. Well, as for Anthony and I we kept it secret for about three weeks and a few days, then it started spreading that we liked each other and then it went to someone spotting us at the movies holding hands. I finally told Anthony we need to tell our closest, and most dearest loud mouth friends we had so they could spread the news.
