Sir Roger David Casement spends the 1890's studying the injustices forced on the people of the Congo Free State, then owned by Leopold II, King of Belgium. In other nations, William Jennings Bryan is elected to the US House of Representatives on 1896 as a supporter of free silver.

Thomas Arm at, Francis Jerkins, and Thomas Edison invent the mot in picture camera, and the first motion picture, The Black Maria, (above) is shown in 1892.
