Promoting new growth in damaged nerves On Monday November 13, 2000 an article was posted on the Internet (web). The article was title "Promoting new growth in damaged nerves". This article was uploaded by a group of people from Cure paralysis. Scientists have understand and know that damaged neurons in animals are able to regrow itself, and that this same regeneration also occur in the damage spinal cord of a human being. The major problem is getting the neuron to resume transmitting signal. Scientists is trying to understand the bodily mechanism that control the nerve growth in order to restore function to paralyzed human.

Study know neuron need some kind of supporting structure to direct the growing nerves to it appropriate targets in order to allow them to make connection that will transmit signals from one neuron to the next. Scientist are studying the peripherals nervous system and found that has the ability to repair itself. Studies have showed that Schwann cell that surround the peripheral nerve are responsible for myelin ation which maybe the key element in peripheral nerve regeneration. By implanting pure Schwann cell in to the central nervous system the peripheral nerve cell will able to restore function to damage spinal cord. This work proved that the peripheral nerve cells could survive and function appropriately when implanted into the central nervous system. I really think this is really great with what scientist are discovering today.

It's really incredible how this kind of procedure appeared to reduce scarring at the injury site. With this kind of knowledge people with traumatic injury of the spinal cord are able to recover.
