Many research studies have tried to find characteristics within pedophiles; however many problems surface when researchers try to define them on the basis of personality. It is often unreliable because the personality behaviors are assumed rather than proven, inconsistent findings, and psychological factors that do arise may be a result of societal factors, rather than pedophilia (MH AM, 2003). Although personalities could not be found as a significant characteristic in pedophilia, other characteristics were shown to be consistent with most pedophiles. Most pedophiles are usually males over 30 years of age.
Notice that the key word is most not all pedophiles there is a small population that is female. These men seduce their victims by giving them gifts and filling them with affection and attention.
