Charlie's Father example essay topic
It is evident that Charlie's father is a person who lives a very stressful life, which is caused by many problems; and also a man who tries to cure stress with obnoxious repulsive acts. It is obvious that Charlie's father drinks a lot of alcohol when Charlie states, "He put his arm around me, and I smelled my father the way my mother sniffs a rose. It was a rich compound of whiskey". what makes this statement so strong is that Charlie's father was on his lunch break, so apparently he was drinking at work. In addition, at all of the restaurants they went to, he would always demand, "If it isn't to much to ask of you- if it wouldn't be to much above and beyond the call of duty, we would like a couple of Beefeater Gibsons!" In today's society, many people turn to alcohol to solve their problems. Charlie's father is the type of person that feeds off of the pain and anguish of hose that are weaker than he is. He gets a rise out of being repulsive and boisterous.
One account is when they were in a restaurant and he claps his hands to get attention of hte waiter. Defensively, the waiter replies, "I don't like to be clapped at", and Charlie's father retorts", I should of brought my whistle... now take out your little pad and your little pencil and see if you can get this straight: two Beefeater Gibsons. Repeat after me: two Beefeater Gibsons". Charlie's father has no self-esteem, so he trashes others to feel better about himself Many people do not have high self-esteems, but hey should never torment others to feel better about themselves. Charlie's father tried to solve his problems by hiding and not facing them face t- face. He turned to alcohol, anger, and carelessness.
Through his ignorance and repulsive a iude, he pretty much ruined his only chance to have a good relationship with his on. No one should ever have to say, "I should have done this, or I should have done that". Society must come face to face with their problems and never hide their problems with alcohol or etc.
