Christopher Reeve Born on September 25, 1952, in New York City, was a man named Christopher Reeve. Christopher began studying the piano and taking voice lessons as a child. He later became an assistant orchestra conductor and began acting at age 9. Acting was were what made Christopher famous. In 1978 be played the "Man of Steel" in the movie Superman. Besides acting, he also was a spokesperson for the arts and a political activist.

In May of 1995 Reeve was nearly killed in a horse riding accident and was paralyzed from the neck down. Since the accident, Reeve has become convinced he will walk again and has increased the funding for spinal cord research. Christopher has done the unthinkable by directing movies and acting since his accident. Christopher has become a leader and inspiration to many people throughout the world. People with the same or with a worse diagnosis as Chris, have started to believe that nothing can hold them back from reaching their goals and doing the unthinkable. Reeve was able to overcome his handicap with optimism, courage, and determination.

He has been able to help others with his kind heart, generosity, and caring toward others making him a good leader. Throughout his hard times, his wife, Dana Morosini, and kids, William, Matthew, and Alexander, were always there to help encourage him along. His father Franklin Reeve and mother Barbara Johnson helped mold Christopher into the caring, determined, and responsible leader he is today. Christopher had helped others all his life, but it wasn't until his accident that he became such an icon and inspiration to those with a handicap. He has been a leader to those people and has funded an award to families with disabilities. Christopher now has his own foundation known as The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation and was vocal in President Bush's decision on federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research.
