Clinton As A President example essay topic
Why do we allow our country to make other people's issues our own? Clinton was a victim to our countries belief of thinking that it is there "RIGHT" to know about the president's personal life. Although Clinton originally lied to our country about having sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky, the manner that he was questioned in was wrong. The press and media put him in an uncomfortable situation. Clinton knowing that what he had been doing was wrong, he hadn't told his wife or family, and wasn't ready to admit to cheating on his wife in front of the nation. Being as the embarrassment was too much to handle.
Clinton went many months telling lies on the happening with Lewinsky. Finally on August 7, 1998 Clinton came out before the Office of Independent Counsel and a grand jury and gave his presidential address from the Map Room of the White House. Clinton stated that he had misled people into believing he did not have sexual relations. He came out and told the world that he did in fact have these relations with Lewinsky. The questions were not all answered and there was still more that the American public wanted to know. Although Clinton told the truth about Lewinsky, there were many whispers going around about drug usage in the Oval Office.
Jack Christy of the USA Radio Network had an exclusive interview with Clinton and there were many questions asked that were not answered and for good reason. When Clinton was asked about the drug issue he was "surprised and hostile" when asked about "a matter that was not public". Bill Clinton. There were many questions involving Lewinsky bringing drugs into the Oval Office. At one point in his speech to the people, he states, "As you know, in a deposition in January, I was asked questions about my relationship with Monica Lewinsky.
While my answers were legally accurate, I did not volunteer information". web address / fallout. html With Clinton not volunteering information he did not address certain questions when asked about whether or not he or his friends altered the testimony of Lewinsky. At this point, it is difficult to believe and stand behind Clinton and understand that people make mistakes in life, even the president. Clinton had many things to worry about, he didn't want to lie to himself his family or his country, but at the same time he was embarrassed about what he had done. In fact, he states that "The independent counsel investigation moved on to my staff and friends, then into my private life and now the investigation itself is under investigation."This has gone on too long, cost too much and hurt too many innocent people". Bill Clinton. You can really tell that he feels sorry for the actions that he took in the situation, but he doesn't want it to affect anyone but him.
One would have to give him respect for telling the truth and not wanting to bring others down with him. Clinton makes it a point that he is only concerned with getting his relationship back on track with his family and trying to make things right. Which at that point is really the only thing he should be worried about, because there were too many people against him and not enough people with him. The only thing he could do was try to make the people that loved and believe in him see that he was remorseful and as a husband and father didn't agree with the decisions he made with Monica Lewinsky. Most people didn't think about the fact that it takes two to tango and Monica was also a main person in this. Lewinsky admitted to throwing herself at him.
As a woman having the power of seduction, she used that to get Clinton to do what he did. Knowing that she had control over his actions, she continued seeing him. She was always in the shadows of Clinton, in pictures you can see her in the background or hustled in a crowd of people standing behind him or giving him a hug. She also talked about smuggling drugs into the White House.
Ms. Lewinsky was a young girl in her prime being a "roadie" to the president of the United States of America. A lot has to be said about someone who knows what she is doing and continues to do it. As president of the United States of America, he had many people trying to bring him down. As a Democrat, the Republican Party did whatever they could to get dirty out into the public about Clinton. It's hard to know what is true and what is false. When watching CNN or reading magazines, people tend to believe what they hear or read.
When Clinton did not answer some questions, it caused more and more problems because people believed that he had more to hide. Even though the country was focused on the issues with the president's sexual life, the president was still more concerned about the well being of his country. Although it was near the end of his 8-year term, Clinton tried to pull away from the gossip and rumors of the media. Being as this was not an easy task, Clinton wanted protect his family from the medias twisted words and ways of destruction. At one point Clinton says the only people he cares about and loves are his wife, daughter, and god. As a person, it would be difficult to continue trying to be a positive leader when the people you are leading don't believe you.
Clinton states, "Even presidents have private lives. It is time to stop the pursuit of personal destruction and the prying into private lives and get on with out national life. Now it is time-in fact, it is past time-to move on. We have important work to do-real problems to solve, real security matters to face". Clinton accepts the fact that he did not walk the straightened arrow, he made a mistake, but there are bigger problems that need dealing with. There are bigger issues that need to be discussed.
The personal relations he has on his own personal time so long as it does not affect his ability to be a leader for our country it should not matter. Yet not many people agreed with him, too many people wanted to see him out of the White House immediately because of this. There was talk of impeachment. Eventually he was impeached as President of the United States. All because a man did what happens in our society every day. There are lots of things that go on in some marriages and people don't even know.
Clinton made the mistake, too. It shows a lot for our country when we can focus on one thing like the president something that is not of any importance to the country. It shows that Clinton as a president served our country in the right fashion and what he did in his own time did not affect the ability for him to be a good leader. It all goes back to the fact that the people in the US want to hear the dirt so they can have something to talk about.
In the case of Clinton, there are so many holes and issues that were not spoken of and many that were. In the end, if as a president he served our country to the best of his ability and nothing he did in his personal life interfered with that, then there should never have been a problem. Clinton's speech on August 7, 1998 may have caused more issues with lying to our country. It is hard to say whether or not he swayed people into believing that he is human and that presidents make mistakes, too.
Or if it was just a way for people to look at him and feel that he is a liar and there is no room for a liar in the White House. The actions that Clinton took were necessary, he needed to tell the public that what he had done what wrong and he knew that. It takes a lot of strength for a person to admit to being wrong. A trait not many people possess. The speech did turn heads and people will not forget what happened, but, in the end, Clinton told the truth, he admitted he lied, and he tried to show the people that there are more important things going on that needed dealing with. As a president that was the best thing he could have ever said.
He needed to pick our country back up and wipe it off and start getting down to the important problems we have..
