In England people were getting forced off their land and thrown in the streets, there choice was either to starve in the streets or go to colonial America, where they would have a chance to become there own boss, do what they want and have a chance to survive. People came to America with certain skills, some where industrious farmers, and day laborers, and they figured they would make more profit using their skills in the colonies. To most an economic chance in America was the last option for survival, Political opportunities were just as important to the immigrating people of Europe, they were sick of the constant oppressive demands of the government, and they were tired of the monarch government. They wanted freedom in their government, and they also wanted religious freedom, they had no say in their religions. Reasons for political immigration was mainly because the Europeans wanted to live under a Democracy which they weren't getting in Europe, they were sick of the government in England and other parts of Europe. The last reasons why the American colonies were such hot immigration spots, was the whole search for social opportunities.
People who wanted social opportunities wanted all around power they wanted money, power and respect, that was key. They were also sick of all England's taxation, there were taxes on everything and the people felt it was unfair to have to deal with them. Although a lot of people immigrated to America some where forced here on slave ships, to fulfill a long life of slavery. The slaves at one time accounted for almost half of Americas population. In conclusion many people immigrated to colonial America to get away from the daily problems in Europe, such as monarchy, taxes, over population, no farmland, and no religious freedom. America was the answer to these problems, it was indeed a place of opportunities as well as many freedoms that other countries would never even consider.
It was and still is today land of the free and the home of the brave.
