Communists And Politicians And Hitler example essay topic
He also writes that Germany should live by fighting and that a revolution could happen in the country and it would be led by Jews. There should be no blood or racial marriages because they were destroying Germans culture. This book became a best seller and this had proved Hitler's fame. Even though the Nazi Party was banned by the government they kept going under different names and they entered the Reichstag elections for the first time. They didn't win and this was because the party was not that strong without Hitler in charge. 2 months later Hitler was released from prison and the ban on the Nazi Party was lifted, the Party then had a big celebration.
Whilst in jail Hitler realised that force is not a useful way of gaining power and getting what he wanted so instead he decided that he would use propaganda to get the support that he needed. He used his speaking skills, held many meetings and even trained members of the Nazi party to be good at public speaking so they could persuade more people to join. They were mostly focusing on getting working class and farmers support. The reasons for focusing on those two groups were because they were angry.
The working class got told that they would get jobs if they voted for Hitler, he blamed the government for lose of their jobs, high unemployment and hyper inflation problems. He wanted the farmers vote because they were not into politics and they would most likely vote for him if he promised them money and more land. Also by gaining the farmers vote there is a chance that word could spread. In order to get the Nazi Party back on track they had to be organised, not only in Munich but all over Germany, he wanted this to be a national party. He set up Nazi Party offices all over Germany.
He divided the country into areas called a 'gau'; each of these was to be led by a loyal Nazi called a 'gauleiter'. In 1926 Hitler had made a man called Joseph Goebbels the gauleiter of Berlin, he was in charge of propaganda. He had to get the Nazi message across to German people so they would hopefully vote for Hitler. He had used posters, newspapers and the radio to get the message across to Germany. The Nazi message was telling people what was wrong with Germany and how Hitler would make it all better. People were told that Germany had been stabbed in the back by Jews, communists and politicians and Hitler was the only real politician who cared about getting the German people their pride and wealth back.
In 1928 the Nazi Party had offices and support all over Germany. By this time Hitler had learned how to give the impression that he was a respectable politician and that he was not a traitor, neither a criminal but only a few Germans were voting for him in elections. A very clever politician called Gustav Stresemann led the Weimar Government after 1923. He was the reason Germany got back on track. With help from an American banker called Charles Dawes he made a new agreement about the reparations bill and this made it easier for Germany to pay back the money they had owed to France. Also he brought in a new currency to replace the old money.
This meant that many people got work again. Earlier on not a lot of governments trusted the Germans and this is why they weren't allowed to join the League of Nations. So in 1926 Stresemann convinced the other leading countries to forget about the past and that Germany could be trusted not to start another war. He told them that the people accepted the Treaty of Versailles. Germany was allowed to join and this made the future look a lot brighter. Because the German people were happy with Stresemann, they didn't think that they should listen to Hitler's message anymore so this is why many Germans didn't vote for the Nazi's in the elections.
In 1929 the Wall Street Crash happened in America. It had a big affect on the whole of the world so this meant Germany aswell. It also led to the Great Depression. Many countries had borrowed money off the Americans so that they could get their factories working but because America went bust, they wanted their money back. German factory owners had to lay off workers because they found themselves short of money.
This made the workers angry and short of money so they couldn't afford the goods the factories were supplying! It was a big mess again for Germany! Many Germans started to struggle with life so they started to listen to the Nazi message. The German government were trying to figure out a way to get German people back to work but they didn't solve anything, all they done was argue and this made the Weimar government look very weak and unreliable. Hitler used this as a good time to travel around Germany to give the people his views about that was wrong with Germany and what should be done. He kept blaming the Jews and communists and he told the German people that it wasn't their fault.
Many people thought that he was a strong leader; he had thousands of uniformed and disciplined followers who would do anything and everything that he said. This helped Germans to believe that he could make Germany great again. There were still quite a few rich Germans around and they didn't like Hitler very much either. They didn't like him because he came from nothing to this big icon who nearly everyone respected. They didn't want the communists taking their land and Hitler's SA went around attacking these communists.
The rich people liked this even though they didn't agree to violence. Many of the rich Germans thought they could control Hitler so Hitler found it quite easy to get support from them. Hitler was very important to the Nazi Party and he was very much in charge of it. Everyone who joined the Party liked Hitler and was impressed with what he said. Hitler had some very loyal men with him they carried out his orders and they helped him build up the Nazi Party.
These henchmen were Joseph Gobbles, Rudolf Hess and Ernst Rohm. Hitler usually flew in to big meetings in an aeroplane; this gave the impression that he was someone important. There were many other things that helped Hitler build up support, the main one was the Wall Street Crash and the depression. If this had never happened then Hitler wouldn't have gotten so much support over the years.
