Criminal Law and Justice I have really enjoyed Criminal Law. At first I wasn't to thrilled about taking the class I just picked it to fill in my schedule. But it turned out to be a really interesting class. I learned lots of things like what is considered to be a felony, all about the courts systems and how they run. I have learned punishment for juvenile offenders, I have learned a whole new vocabulary of criminal words. I have also learned all about the laws and how they work.
I think that it was good on my part to take this class because now I have a better understanding of how laws work in Kentucky. Now if I have any situations with the police I know my rights and what I should and shouldn't do. It was a very difficult thing to teach two classes with only one class set of books. It was a struggle to get all the information to all the students because there was so much, and so little time. Not being able to take home the books sucked a great deal. We couldn't study as much, never got to read as much as I would have liked, and always felt rushed when trying to do assignments in class.
I think that if we would have been able to take our books home we would have gotten a wider amount of knowledge about the chapters we covered. I thought it was a good idea to let us teach the class because we got to see what it was like and how hard it was with only one set of books. But also I think that you should have made strict rules for this project. Most people just kind of blew the assignment off and didn't do anything. Which did not help the people that weren't teaching because I am sure the didn't learn anything. If you have this class next year I definitely think that you should request 2 class sets of books because that would make it a lot easier for you.
Also I think that you should take some field trips. I think that it would have been good to go on field trips so we could see what it would really be like. I understand that it was difficult this year to take field trips because of the population of both of the criminal law classes. I think that maybe we shouldn't have watched as many movies.
I think that we should have done more hands on presentations. Like I really enjoyed doing our presentation and making our video for the Ted Bundy trial. I learned a lot of things form the groups that really put effort into their presentations. I really enjoyed having you as a teacher this semester because I like the atmosphere of your class. I like how you can say what you really want to say and not get into trouble. Most teachers don't allow you to do that.
Also I think that you really care about your students and would help them in anyway that you could. Thanks for putting up with all of our bullshit, and letting us sit in the hall like everyday.
