Problem-Solution Persuasive Speech Outline Introduction -On September 11th was slapped in the face with three commercial planes hitting the symbols of capitalism and American defense. Since this date the importance of becoming informed on international politics has become increasingly significant in the lives of many Americans. -While many of us know of the recent changes in American foreign policy, such as the war on terrorism, Iraq, and Afghanistan, the long-standing and often questionable international policies are vague and fuzzy for most of us, and this is why a complete comprehension of the Cuban Embargo is vital for not just US politicians but all of us. -After reading hundreds of pages of material from professors and credible sources, for example the World Health Organization, I feel well-informed to the point where I can show to you all the problems in Cuba and how we can solve them.

-The status of Cuba is continually deteriorating because of the burden of an embargo placed on them by America. -In today's speech I will talk about the problems and solutions to the following subjects: Castro in Cuba, economic and health status of Cuba, and international consequences of the Cuban Embargo. -I will begin by showing why the US is directly responsible for the empowerment of Castro. Body I. Castro's Power A. The results from ending the embargo will be great for both America and Cuba. 1.

The Pope condemns the Cuban Embargo as an act largely against the people of Cuba, not Castro (Pope Quote). 2. The Chamber of Commerce writes that they believe the end of the embargo will bring a democratic Cuba (Chamber of Commerce). B. Castro is able to stay in power because of the embargo due to the simple fact that any which goes wrong he can blame on the Cuban Embargo 1. Castro benefits by being in the international spotlight (CATO 2). 3. Contrary to popular thought, the downfall of Castro means the downfall of communism in Cuba (CATO 2). C. Solution is outlined by the problem: lift the Cuban Embargo (Chamber of Commerce). II. The economic and health issues facing Cuba are because of the Cuban Embargo. A. The economy in Cuba is worse now than it was before the beginning of the Embargo (Seattle Times). B. The stressing health issues have only one cure: lift the Cuban Embargo. 1.

The Cuban Sanctions resemble genocide (Cuba Issues and Answers). 2. Health and nutrition of innocent Cubans marred by Embargo (World Health Organization). 3. Professor finds the sole problem to be the Cuban Embargo (In These Times). C. Solution is as simple as seems: lift the embargo and help out the future of Cuba (Phillip Peters). Conclusion -The marred health, economy, and leader of Cuba can and must be fixed by the lifting of Cuban sanctions, immediately.

-Although many of you feel it is necessary to stand by our leader and Commander in Chief, President Bush, I ask you to remember the facts. I am not calling on any single person in this room to lead a fight against the Cuban Embargo, just remember the facts. When another person ignorantly speaks of the Cuban Embargo, you don't have to respond with a tangent, just remember the facts. Visuals -One visual will be placed to my right, when I am talking about declining Cuban economy. The visual will be a graph of average household income as expected and what it really is.
