Our nation's economy is becoming increasingly dependent on organizations with multicultural skills and knowledge, organizations that have a competitive edge. Organizations that value and take advantage of their diversity will be better prepared to build an effective workforce to serve existing and emerging markets. How can today's company meet the demands of issues of Cultural Diversity? Cultural Diversity Training. The purpose of Cultural Diversity training is to help organizations and individuals to promote employee productivity, reduce employee turnover, resolve conflict between employers and employees, recruit and retain a culturally diverse workforce, and build an institutional culture that incorporates differences.

Without Cultural Diverse Training, management could make incorrect assumptions when reacting to or trying to understand employee behavior. The future requires us to be aware of a wide range of people different from ourselves. People who are a different race, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, work style or even temperament. This topic highlights the steps today's leaders should take to set the stage of success in dealing with Cultural Diversity in a working environment.

According to Amir Bhimji, "facilitating diversity seminar presents a challenge". He continues to say that "diversity training can however, be a positive and effective experience if both facilitator and participants are in a comfortable setting". Amir suggest the following tips to consider in order to have an effective diversity seminars: 1. Focus on skill building-Participants will walk away from the seminar with a skill set they can use the next day. 2. Apply to the participants' work situation-Design exercises that will allow the participants to insert differences they actually deal with in their work place.

3. Increase motivation-Even though motivation comes from within, suggest to participants make an effort to build diversity skills. 4. Make it fun-Even though the issues involved are sensitive, learning is enhances in an environment that is fun and relaxed. Build in humor and allow the group to have fun with the topic. 5.

Involvement-Design exercises that provide hands-on learning for participants. Cultural Diversity Training, when used correctly, accelerates diversity progress by highlighting the best practices used by high performing companies to maximize human potential. The seminars will teach work teams proper techniques to use to improve relationships with team members, boss or customers. Team members will re-learn the importance of overcoming barriers and diversity while improving results and the quality of work life.
