The American Revolution was a difficult battle for the Americans for many reasons. They were fighting against the most powerful army in the world. These and many other factors such as: the commanders, their style of warfare, weapons used, and the equipment on both sides. They had all affected the way the Americans and the Hessians from the British side fought. Even though the Americans had the disadvantage most of the time they were able to fight the war and win independence.

The commanders the Americans had were fairly different than the ones Hessians had. The American commanders were very confident and had a lot of courage in their armies. Even though they would never be able to reach the skill of the Hessian armies they still had confidence that the American armies could somehow beat the Hessians. The Hessian commanders were different because they were disciplined, and shrewd. The Hessian commanders expected the soldiers to win and that was the only choice they had. These are the differences between the Hessian commanders and the American commanders.

The style of warfare the Hessians used was different than the American style of warfare. The Hessians always had their battles planned out. They were very powerful and had a lot of soldiers. However, in the movie when the Patriots attack them by surprise they are defeated because they were not prepared for the battle. The Patriots, however, did not have strategic ways of fighting on the battlefield. Their plans were to fight and try to win.

This is how warfare was different between the Hessians and the Patriots. The weapons and equipment used varied between the Patriots and the Hessians. The Patriots didn't have a lot of weapons and equipment. During the winter they were very scarce in blankets, tents, food and other necessary things to survive. The Hessians however, had everything they needed. They lived comfortably and had no problem of housing or food.

The Hessians also had better quality weapons, which was another advantage to them. This is how the Hessians and Patriots differed in equipment and weapons. The Hessians and the Patriots were both very different types of armies. Most of the time the Hessians were at advantage. Even with all the hardships the Patriots had they still earned independence from Britain.
