Since I have been here for a couple of days, I do find some differences between Chinese people and New Zealanders. The most interesting one is the different way the two country!'s people see beauty. Now this is really a funny example. Chinese people see big, double-eyelid ed eyes as good-looking symbols. And a big nose makes face looked more curvaceous. But it seems that western people tend to pay more attention to cute noses, tiny eyes, and delicate faces, which are typical eastern looks.
Another obvious difference is about skin colour. I always see many New Zealanders lying on the beach at the weekends to have their skin tanned. In China, we don! t usually do this because people like whiter, clearer skin more than a tanned one, even though a tan looks healthier. That!'s maybe why you see some young ladies holding umbrellas while walking on the street on a sunny day. Also fewer people in China have their arms or backs tattooed. Parents especially do not wish their children to have characters or symbols on their skin.
But my New Zealand friends told me to a good-designed tattoo with meaningful words is an artistic way to show off in public. This is really different from Chinese people!'s values regarding beauty. So, those are the three biggest differences I have observed. But what I really wanna say is, no matter how different our value judgements are, we all pursue beauty in our lives. And that!'s the ultimate thing for all human beings!
