The article started off with the telling of how the Down syndrome is caused by the chromosome 21. Down Syndrome can be very deadly and cause many drastic effects on a person who may have the Down syndrome disease. Physical features of a child may be changed and also mental retardation is often found in the child with the disease. How to Treat People with Down syndrome (web) My next article talked about how to treat react to person with Down syndrome.
The article states that the best way to treat a person with Down syndrome is to treat them like an ordinary person. Though the person may need some extra care, the Down syndrome disease does not completely disable the person from all events in life. Most of the care for a Down syndrome patient lies in the hands of the physician and the parents of the child caring the disease. There is no real cure for down syndrome therefore nothing can really be down besides some small alterations. Relation to Biology These articles relate to biology because we have been talking about genetics and the many disease that are handed down through parents. They show the details of the disease and how to deal with it in everyday life.
They also relate to when we were talking about the different types of chromosomes in the body. Why this Topic? I chose this topic because I have heard of and been around the Down syndrome my entire life, but never really knew what the disease was or what it did to a person.
