I did my project on (PCP) also known as Phencyclidine, Phencyclidine Hydrochloride, Phenyl Cyclo hexyl Piperidine, Sernylan. This is the scientific name as well as the generic names. There are also street names like Angel dust, dust,'s herm, super weed, killer weed, PCP, elephant, embalming fluid, hog, PCE, rocket fuel, TCP. This drug falls under the hallucinogen category. It is used with weed or mint leaves like parsley, oregano, or marijuana. This drug is well known for its effects. Some of the short-term effects of this drug are a slight increase in breathing rate and more pronounced rise in blood pressure and pulse rate. Respiration becomes shallow, and flushing and profuse sweating occurs. Generalized numbness of the extremities and muscular in coordination may also occur. Psychological effects include distinct changes in body awareness, similar to those associated with alcohol intoxication. A high dose may cause seizures, coma, even death. Some of the long-term affects are memory loss, speech difficulties, depression, and weight loss.
When given psychomotor test PCP user is found to have lost their simple motor skills. It may also cause a deep depression as with alcohol. PCP was first found in and introduced to the streets in the 1960's. With this it quickly gained a reputation of a drug that gave bad trips and was not worth the risk. Now some couldn't stop, because of addiction problems. There was many cases of users brought to the hospital all because of the bad trip it can give you and the easiness of an overdose.
It was brought back in the 60's only for a veterinary anesthetic. It is now illegal in the U.S. This drug can be entered into the body in many ways like snorted in powder form, also applied to the skin in a liquid form, also the most common way is to be smoked with other drugs like weed, crack, even meth. This substance is also found in other drugs most commonly in mushrooms. This is a dangerous drug and is also illegal. This drug is a life taker as well as a psychological destroyer.
