Education From Regis University example essay topic

443 words
What a Regis University Education Will Mean to Me I want to learn to take risks. I want to change my attitude about taking chances, and if I do take chances to take the right ones. By assessing my academic and extracurricular achievements, I am proud of my accomplishments. I see myself as an open-minded, goal-oriented person who achieves and succeeds through hard work and determination. How much of that success is a result of staying on comfortable ground? And who will offer me the comfortable ground to walk on?

I began wondering about the range of my abilities by attending the Community College of Aurora. After graduating from high school in Puerto Rico the choice of continuing my education was given, but due to the uncertainty of which path my future held, I placed my scholastic career on a hold. A hold that has caused my life to fail by not expanding my knowledge as I really want. Fortunately, through events on my course I have clearly found what I want to do. My limited education and work experience have provided me with an excellent introduction to the computer world, and they have sparked my interest in the computer field. Taking into consideration my desire and my interests, obtaining a degree in computer science is the next logical step.

At this point in my life I consider a Bachelors in computer networking to be necessary since I need to gain a broader understanding of computers and to sharpen my skills in order to be successful. Regis University offers a program that will allow me to concentrate in the networking field, strengthen my global computer perspective, and provide me with the opportunity to study with, and learn from people with varied backgrounds. Upon graduation from Regis University, I will seek a position within a corporation as a network associate with a large telecommunications firm providing service to the world. Here I will develop my abilities to anticipate client needs, troubleshoot, and to engineer solutions that address these needs. In approximately 5 years, I will have the experience necessary to take on upper-level management responsibilities. The theme of accepting the possibility of failure is a new concept for me.

While I have had recognition for academics, community service, and athletic achievements, perhaps I have missed some enriching experiences because my certainty of success was doubtful. I will not avoid such opportunities in the future since I am changing my philosophy of life. With the education from Regis University I will learn to take risks!
