Effects Of Our Actions As A Species example essay topic
In this case, they see everything in a one sided fashion, and in a bad light. On the other hand, to an extent I agree that far too often big business, and politicians take actions without thinking about the possible ill effects these actions may have on the environment, and our way of life. With that having been said, I believe that in order to progress as a society, and as the worlds dominating species, the extinguishing of different habitats will occur. Everything comes at a cost, and in this case we are not the ones paying it, the species below us are. This will continue to happen, as long as we choose to continue our evolution, through technological means. B A Logger's Lament I really agree with what has been said in this article.
Far too often to different lobbyist organizations take specific stands, and will refuse to hear evidence proving the exact opposite. This may be because as a species we do not like to be proven wrong, and when we have our minds made up, it is very hard to be convinced of anything to the contrary. In our society we like to create scapegoats, in order to make ourselves feel better about what we are doing. As long as it is someone else causing the supposed damage, it is ok. This is most definitely what has happened to the logging industry. Thi is a very hypocritical point of view, because as long as there is a demand for wood and wood products, the logging industry will continue to thrive.
If we truly believe that logging is a terrible act, we should find some other source for our products, and not place all the blame onto the shoulders of any specific party. My Opinion I feel that in order to truly progress as a society, and for our species to live in harmony with our habitat / environment, we must fall somewhere in between these authors two extremes. We must always think about the consequences of our actions, and continue development even if it may hurt some other species. As long as we are considering the effects of our actions, as a species we will prevail.
