Erin Brokovich is a story that is based on factual evidence, which in turn forms a controversy between the actor that plays the leading role and the actual person being the storyline is based upon. The main character, Erin Brokovich is played by the well-known actress Julia Roberts and is constantly compared and scrutinised against in contrast to the real life Erin. This often makes it difficult for the audience to make an initial connection between the two women and it is often hard to gain a sound knowledge of the sequence of events that are displayed throughout the film. After viewing the film Erin Brokovich, the audience would have noticed that the film portrays Erin as sporting a 'flaunty' image at majority of times. However, as most die-hard Julia Roberts fans would know Both Erin Brokovich and Julia Roberts are both public speakers. The success of the movie Erin projected "the real Erin Brokovich" onto the public stage.

And while the real Erin Brokovich admits to a bit of identity confusion faced with posters everywhere that say, "Julia Roberts is Erin Brokovich", she has adapted well to her public life. However it is clear that she wasn't ever exactly the shy and retiring type, but now she is a natural and engaging public speaker. After viewing the movie, you already know a great deal about Erin Brokovich. In person, "the real" Erin Brokovich confirmed that the movie is a very accurate representation of the Hinkley vs. Pacific Gas & Electric story and also told us a great deal about how she got to Hinkley, California.

It boils down to the fact that her parents taught her not to lie. She admitted that she had to relearn this lesson the hard way a few times in her youth and read aloud a letter her father wrote to her when, as a teenager, she got caught cutting school to spend a day with friends, a story to which I'm sure many of us could relate. Erin is very bright and very quick but she also has a tendency to be very confrontational. She is confrontational in two ways: the way she dresses, which is very provocative and eye-catching, almost audible it's so loud, and in her language. She has a tendency to be very colourful in the way that she expresses herself, very direct. When the director first met the real Erin Brokovich and talked to her about herself and the story, he was amazed to find that she had a very similar energy to Roberts.

He appropriately comments, "There's an inherent charisma and a light in the eye that is very similar and very compelling. Both in person and on the screen Julia has an undeniable energy that is difficult to resist", says Soderbergh. "As a person, Erin really intrigues me", Roberts confesses. "I have great admiration for what she stands for. A lot of women in our culture are facing being a single mother, trying to make ends meet. They are the heroes of our time, aren't they?" What's nice about the story is that it's about a person in a very specific situation, which early on, is also a horrible one.

Erin is incredibly self-assured and that is the key that enables her to prevail in all situations. She is portrayed as who she is and doesn't change for anybody, which is what makes her such a remarkable individual. Therefore concluding that majority of the film Erin Brokovich was based true to life evidence and the fact that Julia Roberts was able to portray this character so well is indication of a true talent. Both Erin Brokovich and Julia Roberts, although share similar personality traits they are both two very different women. That led two very different lifestyles.
