Some times and places in which major actions occur are as follows: 9/21/47-The master of horror, Stephen King was born. 1970- King received his English degree graduating with honors. 01-71- King married Tabitha Spruce whom he met when they were students at the University of Maine.

He taught six English classes at Hampden University in Maine 1973- His first best selling novel, "Carrie", was published. 1976- "Carrie" was the first of his works to be made into a television movie. 1978- "Night Shift" was published and a succession of books followed -Different Seasons, "Cujo", "Danse Macabre", "Salem's Lot", "The Shining", "Skeleton Crew" (1985 collection of his short stories) Pet Semetary, The Talisman, etc. 1979- Under the name of Richard Bachman, he wrote The Long Walk, and Rage. In 1985, King reveals to the world in the Bangor Daily News that he and Bachman are indeed one and the same. As Bachman, King's novels were more on a sad note.

3) a. The portion of the book that interested me the most was the author's detailed description of one of Stephen King's main characters, Carrie in his best selling novel. The author provides pictures that actually send goose bumps up your spine. The actress that portrayed Carrie in the television movie, Sissy Spacek, was dripping wet in pigs blood just before she uses her telekinetic powers to cause explosions and fires. Carrie was extremely depressed because she had been excluded from everything by her fellow classmates at Bates High School where she attended.

When she is asked to go to the prom by Tommy as part of a prank unbeknownst to her, she becomes excited and happy. She is selected as Queen and Tommy as King. Fellow classmates end up ruining the one happy night of her life and she decides to take revenge. She has horror in her eyes and a maddening smile.

The movie is considered by most critics to be one of the best adaptations of a King book. The schoolmate's screams would be enough to send chills up your spine if you have seen this movie or read his book. Attached are pictures that appeared on page 14 and 68 in the book. Illustration 3 is taken from "The Body". Illustration 4 is from "Misery".

Illustration 5 is King hard at work. Illustration 6 shows him graduating from college with honors. Illustration 7 is a photo of King's mansion. Illustration 8 is King coaching minor league baseball. Illustration 9 is King on his motorcycle and Illustration 10 is King's wife Tabitha. b. We learned about real life from this book because Stephen King gives us specific storyline's that incorporate his real life experiences into his best selling novels.

He is an author who gives readers stories they can absorb and make good use of in their lives. Throughout his writings, he utilizes all of his fears and helps the reader relate to those same fears. For example, how many children are fearful of a monster in their closet? In one of his novels, he brings to life the monster in the closet. "Pet Semetary" is another example of Stephen Kings fear of losing a child. In his book, the father sees his son killed by an oncoming eighteen wheeler.

He has a fear of spiders, elevators, closed-in-places, sewers, funerals, the idea of being buried alive, cancer, heart attacks, the number thirteen, black cats and walking under a ladder. King tells us about adventures that can start out to be fun, but can turn into tragedy and disaster. An example of this is his best selling and first novel "Carrie". He tells us of the sorrow that follows the death of a loved one in "Pet Semetary".

He may write fiction, but if you look deeply into his writings, much of his fiction deals with real life. c. I think the author wrote this book to express to readers the amazing life lived by Stephen King. King proved to his readers that if you have a dream of becoming a successful writer such ashe did at an early age, that anything is possible despite the obstacles. Stephen King was poor when he was raising his two sons and supporting his wife initially and many of his manuscripts were rejected by the publishers. He continued to write despite the odds.

The author provides the reader with detailed descriptions and illustrations from many of King's best selling novels that were later made into television movies. Without a doubt, I believe that King will go down in history as being one of the greatest horror writers of all time as compared to Elvis being the "King of Rock and Roll" and Michael Jackson being the "King of Pop". It's not everyday that an author can successfully write one best selling novel after another and manage to keep his readers interested so that they wait for the release of his next novel at the book store. 4. I would recommend this book to other readers because it was very interesting and informative. I liked the fact that it provided you with many illustrations of various important events that occurred in Stephen King's life.

After reading his novels, you are left with insight as to how King's vivid imagination works. He incorporates real life stories and actual characters he has known into real life experiences and fears. For example, in his book, "The Body", the names of the boys were all Stephen King's real childhood friends. One of his characters finds leeches allover his body when he swam through a leech infested creek. This actually happened to King when he was a teenager. Another reason I liked the book was because it was only eleven chapters, but when you finished it, you had a pretty good idea why King could scare the pants off of his readers with ease.

His stories were believable, some full of horror and sadness. I have read many of his novels and Have found it hard to put his books down. Bravo Steven King! No wonder his God given name is King since he was destined to be "THE KING of HORROR.".
