Does the stability of a society depend on how it responds to the extremes of human behavior? Yes and no. Yes because how a society respond to extreme human behavior does affect the social stability, but it is not the only element, and it, on the other hand, reflects how stable a society is. There are a host of factors on which the stability of a society depends, including the extremes of human behavior and the society!'s responses to them. Extreme behavior is usually human disaster, which tears apart social fabric and escalates internal conflicts. Take China!'s Cultural Revolution for example.

During that painful ten years China was in a state of chaos! a schooling and production gave way to factional battles and personal attacks. It negative impact on people!'s mind and social stability is beyond words. What!'s more, how a society responds to extreme human behavior matters as well. The social impact would be minimized if it were immediately brought under control. Otherwise, it spreads and causes tremendous troubles that could have been prevented or could never have happened. If United Kingdom and France had not turned a deaf ear to Hitler!'s military operations, France would not have been so easily defeated and surrendered; United Kingdom would not suffered from such huge property losses and human casualties.

Nevertheless, how successful a society is in responding to extreme human behavior depends, in part, on its stability. Only a stable community can come up with a viable solution in circumstances of great upheaval. After the terrorist attack on World Trade Center, there was persecution of Arab people in some communities. However, this destructive reactions were soon taken under control, the American people were, more than ever, united in their concerted efforts again terrorism. Extreme human behavior and the society!'s responses impact the stability of a society, which, in turn, determines whether social responses can effectively deal with such extremes.
