Piggy and Simon were dead. Ralph sat and thought about all that was done on the island. Ralph couldn't believe what went on. "What do you have to say about being rescued now, Jack?" Ralph asked as he walked towards Jack and the others.

Jack pushed his way through the littleuns and made his way towards Ralph. He stepped up on a platform and yelled to Ralph. "Now listen here", Jack boomed "I am still the leader of what goes on until we all go home, so don't give me any wise remarks about our rescue". Ralph turned around and rolled his eyes. Ralph sat in silence. All he could see were little boys acting like savages.

These couldn't be the boys he survived with in the beginning. They had transformed into bloodthirsty monsters. And yet, with all the chaos that went on, he could still see Samneric. The twins stood there in the same disbelief as Ralph. The twins looked at Ralph and smiled. They were happy that they were finally going home.

Seeing Samneric painted up like every other boy in the tribe made Ralph realized something. Every one of the boys was capable of evil. Thinking back to the pig hunts he realized that they all took part in the sadistic events going on. Ralph also realized this about himself. He enjoyed going after the pig! The thought frightened him.

Then Ralph realized that he wasn't ever going to hunt again. He was too afraid of what he may become. "Listen everyone, please!" Ralph begged. There was a sudden stillness as the group began to listen.

"We have all witnessed some horrible things on the island". Ralph continued. "We must realize our mistakes. We have gone way too far".

There was a look of confusion passing over the faces of the littleuns as Ralph pleaded with them. "Yes we had to kill the pigs for food but even that got out of hand. If we could put this all behind us and start over, I am sure we can be normal again before we get home... to civilization". Before anyone could answer Jack ran through the crowd of littleuns and pushed Ralph. "Stop trying to get everyone on your side. It's not going to work".

Jack said. "I am not trying to win anyone over. I am just telling them that they should start thinking about how life is going to be different again. They need to realize that they can't hunt pigs and dance around fires anymore".

Ralph argued. "Keep all the realizations to yourself". Jack replied. Jack walked away.

Samneric realized that there was no reasoning with Jack's tribe. They headed towards Ralph. "Ralph, can you ever forgive us for what we did back on the island?" Asked Sam. "Yeah Ralph, please don't be mad at us". Said Eric. "Of course.

Don't worry. If you guys didn't tell Jack, the island wouldn't have been set on fire and we wouldn't have been rescued. So thank you, actually". Ralph giggled. The twins and Ralph sat and chatted for awhile.

The evil wasn't going to get any worse within the boys. They got off the island and away from savagery. Ralph looked around the ship. All he saw were little kids with paint all over their faces. He noticed that they were not crazy like Jack had become.

"Do you think everyone will be fine when we get home?" Ralph asked the twins. "I think so. I don't know about Jack, though. He seems to have some major problems". Sam replied. Ralph said, "Well, I guess we " ll just have to see.".
