Far As The Cruise And Resort Industry example essay topic

Going on this fourteen day Caribbean Cruise was the best time of my life! It was so much fun socially and it was extremely educational. This trip gave me the opportunity to experience things I never would have imagined. Touring the hotels and resorts made me want to pursue this major even more than I previously had. Now that I have had the behind-the-scenes and up close look at the career I am positive I made the right career decision.

Whether it be swimming with Sting Rays, snorkeling with exotic fish, or even just staring off into the endless ocean, each and every one thing I received the opportunity to do on this trip I am thankful for. All are things I have not really previously experienced and really did not even expect to. Not only were these experiences incredible but witnessing first hand $125,000 dollar a night hotel rooms and touring the most luxurious resorts in the world are all experiences that not many people get to do. Those that do get to do these amazing things are very lucky. Only seeing and learning half of what we did on this study abroad would have made me content. I honestly do not think I could have asked for a more educational yet extremely great and fun experience.

The one day that specifically sticks out in my head was the day in Atlantis when we toured several hotels and resorts. I enjoyed this because it was such a learning experience. Comparing all of the different resorts really helped me to pinpoint what it is exactly I want to do in the industry. This tour consisted of four tours through some of the most popular hotels and resorts in the Bahamas. Actually, some of the most respected hotel resorts in the world. The hotel resorts that we explored were the, Radisson Cable Beach and Golf Resort, The Nassau Beach Hotel, The Wyndham Nassau Resort and Sandals Resort.

The Nassau Beach Hotel seemed to be geared more toward teens and college students. There were a lot of younger people there and there were even some other college groups there. Also the hotel had brochures and signs about Spring Break and group packages for students. Wyndham Nassau Resort I feel directed a lot of attention toward their convention area and their conference areas, so that makes me think they target some company and group markets. By how luxurious the rooms and convention were I am thinking they are not just normal companies and groups but middle to upper class people and corporations. The Radisson is a pretty all around resort as far as what they offer because they have many options to choose from The overall target market that Radisson goes for is middle class families in their regular rooms and upper class families for their all inclusive packages.

I say middle class for regular because the price is reasonable and they offer things for the whole family. The all inclusive packages are usually for families with a little more money and are willing to spend it. Sandals Resort is geared toward middle to upper class couples. This one is obvious because it is a couples only resort. It is an expensive resort and from what I saw today it seemed to be all middle to upper class couples out and about. When it comes to insights that I would give as far as the cruise and resort industry, I cannot think of many negatives.

The few negatives I can think of are very long hours and time away from home. Cruise Line employees sometimes work for months at a time, but then have months off. Resort employees many times work 16-hour days, but the work is fun and exciting, so you do not always mind that. When it comes to positives about the industry, the list is endless.

The weather is gorgeous, the environment is beautiful and fun, the people are interesting, and the buildings are amazing and luxurious. This industry is growing so fast and it is not wonder why along with travel being popular, the caliber of these careers are spectacular. You can just tell that most everyone loved his or her jobs. This is definitely a field that I recommend everyone consider. I do not think I would change too much other than possibly getting to enjoy a little bit more relaxed and free time. I did not really feel like I ever really got the chance to sit and relax and enjoy Paradise.

Grant it, I learned a lot by staying busy, and after all it is what we were there for. I could not suggest many other changes. The people that went were great and I made tons of new friends. If I were to ever go on another cruise, I would like to go through Bermuda because I have heard great things about it, for example, how beautiful it is.

That seems like it would be a cool experience as well. I met some great people, I saw some amazing sights, and I learned a lot about our industry. I would say that it was a pretty worth while trip!
