The characteristics of Humanism were appreciation for the classics, nakedness, dignity of mankind, strength, the rediscovery of mathematics, and a new view of nature. Humanism transformed literature, art and scholarship. It influenced medicine, law, theology, and morals. Some features of Renaissance art depicted in the video could be seen through the paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The paintings of the Sistine Chapel are very colorful, complex and varied as well as two-dimensional. Each painting depicts a different scene, which is of great quality and exhibits piety. Humanism can be seen through the Sistine Chapel in the nakedness of the different people as well as the appreciation for the classics, and the new view of nature seen in the paintings. The Battle of the Centaurs displays features of Renaissance art through two-dimensional perspective and you can see the drama and struggle by the way the individuals are posed. Humanism is present in this sculpture through the nakedness of the bodies, the dignity of mankind and the strength the men are showing in their struggle.
