Few People example essay topic
The day of the party was finally here, and I spent it setting up my very expensive stereo system so that no one could break it. Everything seemed to be in place and the people started rolling in. Things were going great. People were dancing and playing pool and just having a good time. There were a few people over by the snack bar eating their hearts out, and that is where the first signs of trouble caught my eye. I noticed a couple of people sneaking drinks.
This was exactly what I had tried to prevent. In my past experience, whenever there was alcohol at a party, bad things happened. I didn't want to spoil the fun people were having so I decided as long as it was contained to those few people, nothing would go wrong. As the night continued, things only seemed to get better.
My friends were there and we were having a great time. No one had complained about the noise, and the drinking had kept itself to those few people, or so I thought. A couple of hours after I noticed the alcohol, I spotted a crowd around one of the bathrooms. Apparently there was a girl in there, throwing up. As I began to walk over, she pushed through the crowd, completely out of control. I didn't know how to react; it seemed like anything anyone did just made her more upset.
She was screaming that she needed to go outside, so we let her out onto the back porch. I tried to calm her down, along with about five of my other friends, but nothing seemed to work. She began running down the street yelling that we were trying to attack her. I just stood at the bottom of my driveway, as others chased her, imagining what my neighbors were going to do, and then it happened. Porch lights began turning on like during Christmas when everyone has them hooked up to timers. People's heads appeared in windows up and down the street.
Then, the one face that I dreaded the most, my neighbors across the street, the Colby's. Our eyes met for a brief moment, and then he disappeared. All of the sudden his front door flew open and out stormed Mr. Colby in his bathrobe shouting obscenities. "What in the @ # do you kids think you " re doing, don't you know what time it is?" Of course my luck has it that the out of control drunk girl just happened to be in the street at that time. "What's wrong with that girl?" Said Mr. Colby.
"I've already called the police, so you better get those kids the hell out of here". I couldn't even speak. I just stood there staring, thinking of what my parents were going to do to me, or even worse, what the police would do. I never intended this to happen, it just did. I hated that girl at that moment. Mr. Colby was in my face now, shaking his finger at me".
... And if you think you " re going to get away with this... ". I just turned around and walked in the house. I told everyone to start cleaning up, the party was over. Not even ten minutes later, I heard a knock at my door.
The police. I knew that I didn't have to allow them in, but what choice did I have with one of my friends completely drunk and in their custody? They searched the house but didn't find anything. There were a couple of kids who had coped an attitude and been taken down to the station. Everyone else was given a breath-o-liver before they could drive home, or call their parents. I learned that night that no matter how controlled a situation seems to be, something bad can always happen.
I thought everyone that was there that night was my friend and could respect my house and my wishes, obviously I was wrong. People will do what they want, but your true friends are the ones who respect your wishes, and try to help out. That night made me realize who my friends were and to choose new friends very wisely. When my parents got home they helped me realize what kind of danger I put on their shoulders, because if anything were to happen they would be held responsible.
