Outline I Brainstorm. In the field of Advertisement and Graphic Design it is known to be a fast-pace business. Everyday life derives on advertisement. In order for money to increase and multiply products must sell and in order for any product to sell they must be advertised. That theory pertains to all subject matters even for big corporations that sell product to other countries such as oil, they have to advertise there product in some form or fashion in order to sell.

In advertisement there are known as three main functions, first is to inform. Most of the products in everybody household is because of some sort of information they either saw or read from a advertisement. The second one is to sell. Most selections of products is shown from the best point of view in order to sway the buyer into purchasing the advertised item. "The aim of a good advertisement is to create a consumer demand to buy the advertise product or service".

The third function of advertisement is for advertisers to pay as low as possible and still sell there product efficiently. Majority of the advertisement and commercials is mostly digitalized and computerized and I feel that the work is incredible and creative but I feel that it's taking away the true craftsmanship of art. Most of the advertisement is only based on computer images which is still good and creative but I feel that theirs more creative ideas in this world other a computer image. II Thesis Statement.

With this research I learn the importance the digitalized world has on advertisement and the lifestyle of the market. Topic 1. A. The first topic is the history and development of Graphic Design... From the past until the present graphic design has always been a visual communicator, which is the visual representation of ideas and concepts. Graphic art and design is a product of mechanisation, facilitated by the demand for broad communications using popular and cheap materials which are to be easily transported. This is also known as the life of a graphic designer. Visual ideas has been around ever since the prehistoric times, but it wasn't until 1922 when a book designers named William A. D wiggins who developed the term "Graphic Design" to describe his activities as a individual who brought structured order and visual form to printed communications. B. Graphic art as we know it today is the product of the technological advances, the printing press being the primary vehicle for change.

It was not until the 1920's that trademark designers were capable of achieving a clarity of form and simplicity of message which would elevate there work above that of ordinary drawing C. By the late 1980's the development of desktop publishing changed the face of the graphic and printing industry world wide. The Internet, which was developed in the 1960's and 70's, was originally based on the US military and academic networks. IV Topic 2. A. Like any sports competition such as basketball or football the advertisement market can also be a very competitive field. Each business or agencies are out to get the big prize which is the profit.

In order to do that they have to overcome any competition they have and be better. B. The key element of any marketing decision is to know there competition. The best way to know about a companies information is to go to the source itself. Most businesses give out all kinds of information by trying to promote themselves or there product and service such as (sales brochure, advertisement, press release etc. ). C. While that might not be the direct source of information any observer who is knowledgeable about the industry can usually separate puffery from fact and hard fact from suspect fact. Even former employees can be source of inside information. If they have some sort of grudge against there former employers or even eager to make a good impression with a future employer they will give up the information. V Topic 3. A. The key thing that makes a advertisement or company logo famous or remember able is Signs and Symbols.

Many product or company names are given a distinctive appearance by a graphic designer. Any Identifying mark or trademark based on the letter form is known as a logo. And identifying mark based on pictorial source is called a symbol. B. Symbols convey information or embody ideas. For example who first used arrows to indicate direction? Now a days we follow those signs instinctively, but at some point in time that was new and had to be explained. Graphic designers are often asked to create a visual symbol.

For example, in 1974, the U.S. Department of Transportation commissioned the American Institute of Graphic Arts to develop a set of symbols that could communicate essential information across language barriers to international travelers. Today, the symbols are a familiar part of signs in airports and train stations, where they help direct travelers to bus and taxi stands, telephone, hotel information, rest room, and other key facilities. C. Among the most persuasive symbols in our visual environment today are logos and trademarks, which are symbols of an organization of products. As with any symbols, a logo means nothing in itself. It is up to an organization to make it's logo familiar such as McDonalds and there golden arcs. A logo is often the first and key element in a complete corporate identity program. VI.

In conclusion the advertising business is a creative field but it seems like the competition and business part takes away from the enjoyment of what the field really represents, Art. Within all the technology, computers and egos it seems like there's no room for the pleasure and creativity of the human mind and a hand holding a pencil. Maybe I'm just the outside person trying to look in through a tented window but I hope it's a lot more enjoyable than the research shows, because this maybe my life. VII. To oppose my argument I guess I have to look at it in the modern day perspective.

And that means that computers are the waive of the future and yes it's still consider art but just in a different format.
