Conservation When you think about conservation what do you think about I think about a better, more beautiful world. Without conservation where would the world be today I know where we would be. We would be drinking polluted water and breathing polluted air. That is why it is our job and our government job to help conserve this beautiful land that we live in.

Conservation is the protection, improvement, and wise use of natural resource to provide the greatest social and economic value for the present and the future. This includes recycling, which has been one of the most successful forms of conservation. With the government insisting that we recycle has done the world a lot of good. With recycling we save trees and natural land. It also frees the world of a lot of trash that has to go somewhere. If we didn t recycle anything there would be more landfills than there is today.

Now with recycling there is more natural land that isn t being torn up and having trash dumped into it. I myself hate to see beautiful land go to waste in the form of a landfill. Recycling reduces environmental damage caused by mining, logging and manufacturing raw materials. Recycling reduces the risks of air and water pollution from manufacturing processes. Recycling paper cuts air pollution by 75%. Substituting steel scrap for virgin ore reduces air emissions by 85% and water pollution by 76%.

Recycling also reduces pollution by keeping materials out of disposable facilities. Recycling is also economical because when you buy recycled goods you pay less than you would for the real thing. Another form conservation of is wildlife conservation. This is my area of expertise because I love to hunt and fish.

Wildlife conservation is not only important to hunters and fisherman it should be important to everyone. Over the years the United States has lost over half of its wetlands and every year it continues to loose 170,000 acres. This lan is where many ducks, geese, fish and many other forms of wildlife live. If we continue to destroy their habitat where are they going to live At this rate before long their will no longer be any wetlands for the people of the United States to enjoy. People say that hunters are bad people and they shouldn t be allowed to kill animals. With less and less land available to the animals they have less and less food source available to them to feed on.

If there weren t any hunters out there the land that the animals live on would become over populated. If that happened the animals would eat up their entire food source and therefore more animals would die of starvation than that of bullets from the guns of the hunters. That's why hunting is not a bad thing. It is what we were put on this earth for, to regulate the animal population so that there will always be animals out there to enjoy and eat. One association that deals with conservation and is backed up by the government is the Coastal Conservation Association. They deal with all the national waters to restore the amounts of fish in the water.

They have got bills passed to stop types of fishing in certain areas of water. They have gotten bills passed to put certain regulations commercial fisherman. They also work with the government to startup and run fish hatcheries and have been recognized as instrumental in the recovery of many different types of fish. One of the bills that the CCA has gotten passed proposed to buy one third of the U.S. longlining fleet.

That is $30 million worth of boats. They also got a bill passed to reduce the longlining permits by 250 permits. In my opinion this is wonderful, it will make it where there will be plenty of fish for years to come. By There is one issue of conservation that I m not all for. I want to be because I love the outdoors and the wildlife. The issue is should we leave the untouched land of Alaska alone or should we start drilling for oil.

I m going to hate to see the all-natural land ruined by oil rigs and trucks etc., but that is probably the best thing the government could economically. If they did start drilling it would all sorts of good for our economy. It would lower gas prices tremendously, which would let people spend their money on other things. We could then start selling the oil to other countries and lower our imports. The question you have to ask yourself is all that oil worth tearing up the only land in America that has never been touched. That land is true wildlife, no roads, no buildings or people in sight.

That also goes for all the other land in America, is it worth living life carelessly to sacrifice our clean air and water, our food sources and all our natural resources. I don t think that it is. The more we conserve the more this beautiful earth is going to be here.
