Friend From A Different Race example essay topic

My idea for this particular segment is called the 'Buddy-Buddy Idea'. Coined from the American slang for the word 'friend', the purpose of the 'Buddy-Buddy Idea' is to encourage children in school to learn more about the lifestyle and culture of their friends from various races. The 'Buddy-Buddy Idea' is very straightforward. Each child is assigned to a friend from a different race every week. For that entire week, the children would be required to learn as much as possible about each other and the influences their race has had on their lifestyle. Each child would take turns bringing their friends back home for a day to experience the different lifestyle of each race.

This way, they would also get to know each other more and more and in the same process, widen their circle of friends. Children would introduce each other to their various traditions and culture in terms of daily lifestyle, habits, food, drinks, hobbies, et cetera. This is to help inculcate a mutual respect between children for others of different races. At the end of the month, the school would organise a quiz to test everyone's knowledge on the cultures of different races. Rewards would be given as small incentives to encourage the children to learn as much as they can about each race.

Besides that, children would also be brought to visit each other during festive seasons. The Chinese children would visit the Malay children during Hari Raya Pua sa, the Malay children visit the Chinese children during Chinese New Year, so on and so forth. It is hoped that through the 'Buddy-Buddy Idea', children of different race and age will get to know each other even more, and to develop a respect for each other, thus ensuring continuous racial harmony in the country so that we can once again, with pride, shout out once more, Muhibbah!
